Hey…. Glad you dropped by. This is a simple, fun banjo song, with an instrumental break that has some mandolin, recorder, homemade percussion, and guitar-bass. It also has some vocal shenanigans. The song is about my time in graduate school, 40 years ago, when I lived off campus in a harmonious hippie house. I lived in the attic with my wife, and there were 4-6 roommates downstairs at any one time. We were all university students, peace loving, free-thinking, socio-environmentally conscious free spirits who became a family of sorts. There were potlucks, guitar jams, gardening, all sorts of ecological endeavors, helping our neighbors out, sharing meals, peace protests, shows and concerts and of course, studying for our classes, among other things. It was a time that helped shape who we would become. There was Joan, who became a professional wildlife photographer, Jack, an environmental engineer, Tim, a social worker, who built a farmhouse and had a large family with the love of his life. Andrea, a founder/owner of a community composting and recycling business, Delilah, an ecological research scientist and me, a laid back science teacher. We’ve kept in touch over the years, and now we are all old people. A lot of that lifestyle, ideology and sense of peace and freedom has stuck with me to this day. Hope you like the song. Mark

I had a thought many years ago about life being like a hurricane, just a never ending cycle. It crossed my mind again the other day, and after a little while behind the 88, this thing poured out. Its all about the right timing. I started writing this May 8th, a few lines in the evening, then after an unexpected late night the rest followed. This song explains a lot over the years. She'll always be my queen. I hope you enjoy this live recording I did late last night on the old trusty Baldwin. Sometimes all it takes is three little chords. Eating lots of cheese and hotdogs, eating lots of cake. and pie
I wish that I could switch to arugula and beets so I could be a more healthy guy.
It seems like everywhere I look; I see a delicious high calorie treat
But I only have one stomach and there's so much food to eat.
There's a Peloton in my basement, I need to go down there

Why can't losing weight be as easy as losing hair.
I step into Starbucks for black coffee and walk out with hot chocolate and a muffin. Sometimes I feel like a teddy bear who's been filled with too much stuffing 
I tell myself that for lunch I'll have a side salad, and I'll skip the dressing but the more that I think about it it starts to feel depressing

If God said to Adam if you eat that fruit, you won't look good in your birthday suit, would he have taken a bite?  Based on my experience I don't think so.
