Ho ho ho, the mystery-shrouded Rrose - named after Marcel Duchamp’s eponymous persona, punches in right on cue for Xmas with an absolute monster of a two-hour jaunt into their exquisitely twisted headspace. Having served up some of the finest techno slabs of the past decade through the likes of Sandwell District, Stroboscopic Artefacts and now their own dedicated imprint, Eaux, Rrose steps in the series with a bonkers mix of dusty techno hustle-and-bustle, neatly alternating sequences of pumping 4x4 aerobatics, searing, noise-adjacent outbursts and eerie melodies to hypnotic effect. A constant balancing act of raw power and haunting score, Rrose’s RYC mix takes us on a deep and fascinating trip into genre-unbound territories, where only abandon and wildness reign supreme. Venerated heavyweights Surgeon and Speedy J cement their Multiples collaborative project with a long-form album of tweaked experiments past the outer reaches of the techno realm. Recorded over the course of two days at Speedy J’s STOOR lab in Rotterdam, Two Hours Or Something is what happens when decades-deep experts in the field plug their hardware in and jam without time constraints or crowd expectations. In these raw, one-take, no-edit sessions there are propulsive moments of techno and electro balanced out by extended beatless passages and a constant experimental instinct which drives the music forward into parts unknown. Following a string of knockout club and festival appearances, this is a fitting document of just how far out Multiples can go when you combine two such experienced and inquisitive minds (and their respective gear).

Kangding Ray is David Letellier
Musician, producer & DJ based in Berlin.

From his early releases on the legendary German imprint raster-noton, to his more recent output aimed at the club, Kangding Ray managed to trace a singular trajectory, navigating the unexplored territories between experimental music and dance music.

Through his consistency as both Live performer and DJ, and a number of critically acclaimed releases, Kangding Ray showed his ability to keep a genuine artistic approach, while slowly crafting a unique universe, equally focused on emotional response and visceral impact.

Kangding Ray’s music tests boundaries, evolving constantly in its exploration of texture and rhythms, while talking equally to the body and the mind.
From his past as architect, Kangding Ray kept a multidisciplinary approach to art, applying his craft in diverse artistic fields such as visual arts, film scores, audiovisual installations and dance performances.

Rather known for his sci fi techno releases on renowned labels like Token or Mote Evolver, the Spanish DJ and Producer ORBE (@orbeartist) crafted something different yet not less remarkable for our podcast series. For the selection he went back to where it all started for him musically and recorded a mix consisting of trippy breakbeats and dirty electro. Maravilloso!

Stepping up with the hypnotic, heavy-duty wares all set at knocking your senses askew, Belgian producer Peter Van Hoesen lands us a monster of a live set. Responsible for some seriously mind-expanding sorties on the likes of Tresor, Vlek and his self-operated outlets Time To Express & Center 91 over the past 15 years, Van Hoesen has established himself as one of the scene’s driving forces when it comes to integrating these cinematic ambiences into an effervescing mesh of pulsating 4x4 rhythms and a millefeuille of layered envelopes acting like quicksands. Recorded on the occasion of his latest live performance at Tresor Berlin on May 10, this particular live harnesses that deep-diving energy elemental to Van Hoesen’s intricate engineering of hi-velocity dynamics and rippling dub interplays, ushering us headlong into a bright, merciless furnace of sound.
