Laidback Luke, the celebrated Dutch dance music DJ and producer, is collaborating with SoundCloud on an exclusive remix opportunity. Fresh off the release of his new track “1000 BPM” featuring Nostalgix, a heavy festival banger inspired by the 2000s bloghouse sound, Laidback Luke has unleashed the stems and is ready to hear your take.
“I’m hoping the community will bring their creativity,” Laidback Luke says. “I’m hoping to discover a lot of new talent — young and up-and-coming people, the next generation — and this remix opportunity will reveal a whole lot of talent that’s on SoundCloud right now. I’m all about all the genres there are, and it really excites me to hear any type of new genre that my track can fall into.”
Laidback Luke Invites You to Join the #1000BPMRemix Party
Laidback Luke is one of electronic dance music’s biggest international artists, with 30 years of production and DJ experience under his belt. He’s performed on the world’s biggest dance stages, from Tomorrowland to Electric Daisy Carnival, produced Top 40 hits — like his remix of the Robin S classic “Show Me Love,” “Turbulence” with Dim Mak Records founder Steve Aoki (featuring Lil Jon) and “Natural Disaster” with rapper Example — and runs his own label, Mixmash Records. On his episode of Voice Notes, Laidback Luke dives into his creative process. For his recent tracks “1000 BPM,” “It Clicked” and “MAMI,” the producer taps into his Dutch house roots and draws inspiration from rising talent in collaborators such as Nostalgix and Henry Fong; infusing bloghouse era bangers with Brazilian club influences and more. Throughout his time at the top, Laidback Luke has mentored young talent within electronic music; counting now-major artists like the late Avicii, Steve Angello of Swedish House Mafia and Afrojack among his most successful mentees. This passion inspired Laidback Luke to collaborate with SoundCloud and share the stems for “1000 BPM” as a way to find fresh talent who can reimagine his track for a new generation of dance music fans.
“I think the most interesting thing for DJs that are at my level is listening to something unique, listening to something that stands out,” Laidback Luke says, sharing more about what he’s going to be keeping an eye out for when digging on SoundCloud for remixes. “Do what’s authentically you, whatever you love most, and it will stand out.
