Southern Ontario songwriter Barry James Payne is the architect of String Bone, the artistic vehicle for his solo songwriting. In the new release ‘Wow! Oh Yeah!’, Payne explodes into electric grunge & funk guitars, screaming Wow! Oh Yeahs, while a female chorus urges hope, amidst his nonchalant testimony of the times we are living in with a sarcastic Bukowski-like narrative going for the jugular of the world’s leaders who continue to do little despite the seeming urgency of our approaching doom. 

The song culminates in a frenzied chaotic finish in a heaping hot mess, before which Payne wonders what could happen if we looked at the world a little differently, claiming that things probably won’t change, but they could. They have to. There is hope. There is always hope. With backing vocals by Ariel Ryder of Chicago, IL, USA, Lea Keeley of Montreal, QC and Anaïs Ysabel of Waterloo, ON.

Folk-Americana artist String Bone, has been stepping into the fray beyond the edges of his genre envelope as of late. Whether it be exploring Drum & Bass with collaborator Nathan McKay on 2020’s ‘Two Stars Collide’s’ series of mixes, or getting stomping dark and electric in his more recent collaboration with Las Vegas Producer, George Leger III on the mercurial ‘Waitin’ For My Dyin’ Day’, he has kept the reins still somewhat close to that Folk-Americana bucket. Until now. Wow! Oh Yeah! is a mash-up of grunge, funk, Americana, Folk, rock, disco, spoken word, R&B/soul and gospel coherently woven together by Payne & Leger to create a bombastic, uptempo, fun, sarcastic, yet reflective anthem for the ages. If it doesn’t make you chuckle, it’ll make you cry. Or at least think about the planet's future.

LA-based Natalie Nicole Gilbert's career has included collaborations with film composers and musicians of a wide array of genres ranging from EDM to classic jazz to alt pop rock. 

Today, Gilbert is a voting member of the Recording Academy with 14 solo albums and an additional 17 singles to her credit. In addition to her music, she has more than 10 years in broadcast radio as a radio host and voiceover talent, and has done national commercials for McDonalds, Cadillac, Quiznos, and other well-known brands. She built her home recording studio in 2005 when it was still a relatively new practice, and continues to produce and co-produce her own music. Gilbert is also a session vocalist for the Dublin Studio Hub, and film and TV composer with Music + Pictures, whose credits include Law and Order, The Office, and many others worldwide. During the pandemic she has created a series of cover albums with her signature soulful sound, alongside new originals and remastered fan favorites.

Born out of a shared passion for rock music, Downie Street Collective came together in Stratford, Ontario. The band found common ground in their love for blending catchy melodies with introspective lyrics.

Heavily inspired by the raw energy of Weezer and the storytelling prowess of Tragically Hip with the sonic influences of Barenaked Ladies, Sloan and The Northern Pikes,the Downie Street Collective creates a sound that’s both nostalgic and fresh.

Songs about folks, sunsets, oceans, mountains, jungles and dive bars I woke up in. Stories of feeling locked out in the rain, getting stuck in a square peg, making the mistake of dancing with the fairies and feeling like Rip Van Winkle. They are stories from an outsiders perspective, the belief in heroes, mythologies and an open highway. Indignation at injustice and the belief in a better tomorrow. Or maybe just disillusionment. 

If you’ve ever asked yourself what happened to this world and what happened to dreams maybe one of these songs is for you. If you still believe in the power of music to make you a better version of yourself then maybe one of these songs is for you. Or maybe you just wanna have a laugh and listen to some toe tappin music that makes you feel like your not the only one with a quirky perspective on the world. Maybe you just want to feel like a hero with headphones for a few minutes. Or maybe your just looking for a slob to hang out with.
