Haven is a place of safety, warmth, and comfort. 


Something a little different from my last few mixes - many of you know me for faster uptempo club mixes, but I also love and dig a lot of slower hypnotic tracks since I started DJing in 2007. I wanted to make a paced-out mix that I could really sink into and feel safe to tap into states of intimacy and warmth.

This mix was recorded on July 26 during one of Clara Tatjana and I's long music sessions in my studio. We were jamming to tunes and she contributed many awesome selections to the tracklist <3

With the current wave of lockdowns and many gig cancellations, I thought it fitting to share this feeling as we all incubate for the next.

@bjarki is relentless. The Icelandic artist has admitted in the past he is obsessed with making music. And since his debut in 2015 there has been a lot of it - six albums and plenty of EPs, mostly on Nina Kraviz's трип, !K7 and his own bbbbbb label. It is always bold and innovative whether taking the form of a straight up club banger or abstract IDM composition. He has released it under more than 10 different names, and what unifies it all is its experimental spirit. 

You could say the same about this week's podcast, which begins with kiddie favourite 'The Birdie Song' before slipping into spoken word monologues, ice cold broken beats and twisted rhythms. They unfold at a relentless pace, with quick and seamless transitions from electro to techno to club music immersing you deep in Bjarki's unique sonic psyche. The cumulative effect is like a busy collage; an outpouring of captivating music from an overactive mind.

Kasper Marrott isn’t your standard techno-Dane. She's become a regular at Berghain and groundbreaking festivals like CTM, traversing a highbrow-lowbrow line that posits that every kind of dance music deserves the highbrow treatment. Her RA Podcast is an irresistible hour of techno full of what she calls "Neneisms," turns into pop hooks amidst hulking techno beats and dips into funky, electro-informed beats.
