We welcome Dublin DJ and producer Jack Jennings to the Local Selection hot seat today, as Jack steps up to the 175th edition of the series, with an hour of driving and fast paced techno, mixed with ease and perfection.

Taking inspiration from 90s/early 00s techno and his roots in house music, Dublin’s Jack Jennings has been a regular within the cities nightclubs, stemming from his earliest days as a promoter with Stoop, to his productions that have found their way to labels all across Europe.

Jack’s sound has evolved from earlier productions on Portugal’s Trau-ma Records, to his most recent release on Dublin’s very own Syncopated Records, but throughout his own music and the energy he creates in his mixes, there has always been one common goal. A focus on the two elements of techno that he considers most important, a focus on fast paced rhythms with a hypnotic groove.

With releases also on Berlin’s Gobsmacked Records and Dublin’s Delinquent Delivery back in 2020, Jack’s music has received recognition from artists such as Rene Wise, Luciano Esse, Setaoc Mass and FEM to name a few. A story that started in 2016 is far from over yet, with an exciting finish to the year coming up in 2022, including new music and a return to DJ booth’s of some of the cities nightclubs once again.

Jack's mix features the likes of Irish hitter Aero, Zisko and Renne Wise to name a few, as he soundtracks your Thursday afternoon. This mix is an absolute cracker of a mix, stick on right now.

Josh Coakley, one of Ireland’s brightest techno hopes, delivers a brimming four track release to Dense & Pika’s Kneaded Pains label with the ‘313’ EP.

Having already fired out indispensable releases via Marco Faraone’s UNCAGE, Choki Biki Records and Sleazy Deep, Coakley whips up four bangers for dark and sweaty basements of discerning dancefloors.

Rattling 909 drums, pacey tempos and rave tinged elements populate each track here, with Coakley keeping his techno style upbeat and engaging at every turn.

The pairing of two Bristol musical affiliates and brothers in arms, Lee Pattison and Jamie Anderson, has resulted in some killer releases over the years under the Idiotproof moniker.

The duo return after a lengthy hiatus, with Anderson now based in Berlin, and Pattison still on West Country soil, and deliver a two track single to Kneaded Pains that’s definitely been worth the wait.

Having racked up an impressive catalogue of releases and remixes for labels such as Made To Play, Southern Fried, Klang Electronik, Exploted and Sisyphon, the partnership dish out two certified bangers for Dense & Pika’s label.

‘Wuuf’ plays it dirty, as raw, pummelling drums and rasping acid licks are sweetened by the addition of a classy vocal hook and a gargantuan breakdown that properly shakes the room.  Accompanying track ‘Zum Mond’ goes deeper as organ stabs and driving beats are elevated with whooping vocal stabs for a great old school techno chugger.

Ok this is a complete world away from the music I play now, but I always did have a bit of a soft spot for trance, especially when I was younger. The weather was amazing here in Belfast last week so I thought it would be nice to record a mix of loads of tunes I used to love back around the early to mid 2000's, no better music for a hot sunny day :)

I started recording and just flicking through old tunes and before I knew it it was nearly 3 hours into the mix. I know trance has its haters but it's just a bit of fun, nothing serious!
