The second edition of the Surface Tension podcast series brings you a blistering set of live electro courtesy of Oakland's Identity Theft, recorded at Surface Tension 11 at F8 in San Francisco, September 12, 2015.

Identity Theft is the solo project of M. Buchanan, performed entirely on hardware synthesizers and rhythm machines. A co-founder of the Katabatik concern in Oakland, he has been a source for all manner of esoteric sound vibrations in various settings and guises:  magisterial interdimensional emanations as a member of Nommo Ogo; wintry crystalline synth pop in Seacrypt; derelict warehouse sounds as one-half of Abandoned Footwear, his collaboration with Jay Fields.

Gandalf works his magic to spoil your mind ...

He’s now resident dj and part of the art direction of important city festivals such as Movement Torino and Kappa Futur Festival and he’s been booked as guest for parties (Dude, Il Suono, Glucose…), and festivals around Italy (Nature Beat in Rome, Aurora Festival in Lecce, Forevergreen in Genova and Milan, Bardonite…). In March 2013 he also had the opportunity to play at the French techno club Concrete, and in early 2015 he had his first gig in Berlin at Griessmuhle, followed by an appearance at Karnival Der Kulturen Kreuzberg. Summer 2015 he as been booked for the "Numa" party in Tokyo, Japan, and in October 2015 he was guest of the infamous "Staub" party in Berlin before returning at About Blank for the "Away meets Genau" party in 2016 and at Kosmonaut in 2017. In April 2017 he returned toJapan where he performed at Dommune and at Unit in Tokyo.

adolescence, Justine discovers the first techno nights in the North of
France at the Name Festival, and I Love Techno in the early 2010s.

After spending several months in London to foam the famous clubs
Fabric, XOYO or even Egg among many others, the real techno revelation only comes. She started dejaying at the end of 2016. Her influences are vast ranging from German techno with big BPM and acid rhythms but her preference unquestionably goes to mental and dark techno. 
Justine is a member of the crew MPSA. She is at the moment working on her first EP.
