Gandalf works his magic to spoil your mind ...

He’s now resident dj and part of the art direction of important city festivals such as Movement Torino and Kappa Futur Festival and he’s been booked as guest for parties (Dude, Il Suono, Glucose…), and festivals around Italy (Nature Beat in Rome, Aurora Festival in Lecce, Forevergreen in Genova and Milan, Bardonite…). In March 2013 he also had the opportunity to play at the French techno club Concrete, and in early 2015 he had his first gig in Berlin at Griessmuhle, followed by an appearance at Karnival Der Kulturen Kreuzberg. Summer 2015 he as been booked for the "Numa" party in Tokyo, Japan, and in October 2015 he was guest of the infamous "Staub" party in Berlin before returning at About Blank for the "Away meets Genau" party in 2016 and at Kosmonaut in 2017. In April 2017 he returned toJapan where he performed at Dommune and at Unit in Tokyo.

Amsterdam based devotee Van Anh is a DJ pur sang with over a decade of experience to her name, making her the respected artist we get to enjoy today. Her sincere love for digging, selecting and technical mixing oozes through every vessel of her body. Although her dedication has always been around, her musical odyssey seems to really have taken a turn since her transition to vinyl. This has not only opened doors to further developing her delicate taste in music but it has given her the chance to fade deeper into the electronic music spectrum.
The name 'Van Anh', which translates to 'clouds', fits her hypnagogic magnetic way of mixing like a glove, allowing her to withdraw from any fixed-genre sets and rather resonate to the sound waves of her liking. Very much like clouds, her sound takes on multiple shapes and forms varying from deep ethereal ambient to hard uncompromising techno. Never monolithic, what makes listening to Van Anh so enjoyable is the intricate way of combining all these sounds, bridging music from the past and the present.
That she knows how to shepherd an audience is underlined by her residencies at Den Haag based The Crave and Rotterdam based Transportbedrijf. The latter is a continuation of Perron, Rotterdam's underground hotspot that has welcomed some of the biggest names in electronic music. Whether it's a warming-up, the peak of the night or a closing set, she will seamlessly move you on the dance floor. Besides from having shared the stage with several heavyweights, Van Anh also hosts her own event in Rotterdam called ISOTOOP - a platform created to explore projects and experiment with sounds as she pleases. The concept is all about channelling new expressions of creativity further into the unknown, in a genuine attempt to open people's minds to new sounds.

This contribution to the Deep Electronics podcast draws inspiration from a storm the Australian duo encountered whilst travelling through the Austrian alps some months ago.

Experiencing moments of meteorological beauty, calm, energy and bleakness amidst the rain and snow, the pair felt compelled to record their visions and emotions, resulting in this mix which was pieced together in months that followed.

There seems to have been a focus on the unsung as of late, those who should perhaps be rewarded with more recognition than they are partial to. Oliver Hafenbauer, is one such figure.

By day he runs and manages the brilliant Live At Robert Johnson record label operating out of the club of the same name, from a personal perspective he is the man behind Die Orakel, one of our favourite record labels which continues to push the boundaries of electronic music and the modern day dancefloor. Sometimes obscure and obtuse by nature the label has released a steady stream of records which have helped redefine cultural expectations of certain producers and the sound within which they operate. Roman Flugel, Orson Wells, Edward and Christopher Rau have all used it as an outlet to showcase sonic experiments and far reaching club cuts. 

We invited Oliver to talk about the label as he delivers a mix as part of our series.

Evod has been playing since he was 11 years old, started doing electronic live music with a Roland MC-909 and a TR-909 that were used in his dad's band. Having had contact with these toys brought about even greater interest in music. Therefore, a few years later, he became passionate about deejay art which led him also to buying records of different genres. Evod is a true vinyl collector and owner of more than 10000 vinyls at the moment.
In 2014 after he had a break from his projects for a few years and spent most of my time playing and playing in his studio for himself and out of passion, until he met Alessio Politano aka Oisel with whom they they started a collaboration and desired to discover new shades of techno music. 
He strived to start from scratch in order to pull out his ideas and projects, finally, he defined his artistic personality with an unique alias: Evod. In 2015 the Evod project has been consolidated both as an artist project and Evod Music as a label.
Evod had already an opportunities to present his project in Berlin techno scene playing in Tresor berlin, Loftus Halll, or Urban Spree.
Besides his own imprints on Evod Music he released on Marcelus - Singular Records.
