SHPOPS was created in 2009 in Brussels in order to get young musicians and artists connected under various different projects. The idea of SHPOPS Projects is to promote young artists whilst also developing social initiatives. The first project 'Foreign Exchange' was a compilation CD bringing together artists from across Europe in order to show people what they were all up to and to raise money for a Youth Empowerment and HIV Awareness programme which I was involved in in Uganda. 

Whilst in Uganda I set up some small music projects with young people tackling issues that affecting the young in rural communities. I also had the opportunity to meet some great young up and coming hip hop artists in Kampala and artists across Uganda and am working on ways in which to expand the collaborations done with artists and to set up a more concrete music project focusing on educating young people and helping them engage with and tackle issues that they face in their communities which may be taboo or which other youths might benefit from learning about. This project will fall under SHPOPS's  'Conscious Youth' programme. 

Work in Uganda included:

-Working in both primary and secondary schools with a variety of different groups. Recording the primary school music groups' songs about issues affecting young Ugandans.
-Recording The AIDS Support Organization (TASO) Jinja Drama Group who are an HIV positive choir who use their experiences to sensitize rural communities through music, dance and drama.
-Recording & working with artists in the Jinja region
-Working with artists in rural communities who have little or no access to instruments, musical education or recording facilities. 

SHPOPS will aim to promote these artists and projects in our next project in a non-profit format with money both helping involved projects and the development of SHPOPS Projects.

The Lyric Feature is RTÉ lyric fm's weekly documentary and music feature programme. Programmes are produced in house by Lyric fm staff or in collaboration with independent production companies. Subject matter varies from week to week but most of the programmes aim to provide insight into music and music making. 

Janzi started its music journey on the 27th/07/09 after James a talented musician developed up an idea and shared it with a fellow musician and a friend Abraham Ssekasi to start up a project that could favor cultural development through music. The ambition to unite cultures of different regions in the world through combining music ethnics was greatly looked upon
as it was a sign of creating international relationship between nations. The band aims at excellency there by creating it’s self room for recognition in the music industry both international and local levels. Janzi is a standing figure in cultural development through
fusion of music instruments and style from different parts of the world thus contributing to the element of preserving culture. Through their concept as young musicians the major goal here is rearranging most of the already found traditional music from late composers into
new harmonic rhythms with ideas from different cultures thus pushing it forward to the present audience for recognition. The band has really established a very clear element of not forgetting about the past music projects but ever keeping it alive coz it’s so much valuable in the music industry. Most of their work refreshes the viewers how the African traditional society in the past decades used to live musically. Many folk stories have been
rebranded with music hypothesis in that to keep all traditional theatrical dreams moving from the past to the present generations. With the ideology, “THE WORLD TO SPEAK THE SAME LANGUAGE, MUSIC”. Enjoy! The band has got a zeal to spread the gospel of togetherness through music and storytelling, like in their first music album EKA.

Joshua Fields Millburn & Ryan Nicodemus discuss living a meaningful life with less.

LORCÁN MAC MATHÚNA is an improvising singer and composer with a special interest in the nature of vocal music. His many projects investigate and elaborate on the improvising nature of the human voice in solo and collaborative settings. This includes A Cappella Sean-Nós singing, contemporary compositions of an improvised nature, music composition theory based on syllabic poetic metrics, and much more. 

His resume includes commissions such as: ‘Tásc is Tuairisc’ a descriptive depiction of the descent into madness and isolation which was co-written with Simon O Conor; and ‘An Táin from the Book of Leinster’ for the William Kennedy Piping Festival 2010; and 'From Derry to the Sea', a special commission by the city of Derry for the 2013 Fleadh, and The Battle of Clontarf in 2014.

An Táin was recorded in 2011 and released in 2012.

Lorcán has studied extended technique, phonetic polyrhythm and syncopation of select traditional vocal dance music, and has developed compositional and performance approaches from his observations. One of the results of this is a compositional project based on classical Celtic syllabic poetry, Preab Meadar, with traditional fiddler, Daire Ó Breacáin;
