“NYC-2-Africa-2-Brasil” features two of the world’s top reggae vocalists, Anthony B and Jahdan Blakkamoore, and builds on the NYC-2-Africa project from Subatomic Sound System & Nomadic Wax, an effort to musically connect the roots of NYC hip hop back through Jamaican reggae and then back to Africa. Here it takes another musical journey on an express train to Brasil where three Brasilian based top ranking producers reimagine the tracks from their unique perspective. NYC-2-Africa riddim was written and recorded in New York City, USA; Dakar, Senegal; and Kingston, Jamaica; tracing the roots of African rhythm through Jamaican dubwise dancehall reggae and NYC hip hop.  Vocals by Anthony B and Jahdan Blakkamoore. Music written and produced by Emch and Benny Beats. Brazilian based producers Victor Rice, Maga Bo, and Buguinha Dub continue the musical diaspora with these dubs and mixes. Mastered by Emch at the Subatomic Sound Lab, NYC. THE ARTISTS:  Anthony B (Jamaica) & Jahdan Blakkamoore (Brooklyn/Guyana) are two of the world’s most exciting conscious dancehall & roots reggae vocalists. Spearhead by producer, DJ, and instrumentalist Emch, NYC’s Subatomic Sound System is leading a dub music renaissance, founders of the US & Europe Dub Champions Festival, 5 years acting as the live band for legend Lee “Scratch” Perry on tours including Coachella & Red Bull Music Academy; plus independently touring North America, Europe, and Asia, and for a decade producing flavors ranging from classic dub to dancehall to dubstep.  Nomadic Wax is a Brooklyn based hip hop label led by drummer/producer Benny Beats, originally planned to focus on African music but later expanded to produce documentary films like “Democracy in Dakar” linking politics and music, as well as producing events like the International Hip Hop festival in New Haven, Connecticut. Nickodemus' last album "A Long Engagement" was released May 2018 and made its way around the World’s listening devices & dancefloors via dj’s and an extensive tour. Now he's back with a remix album that takes the original recordings back into the clubs with slow rolling remixes from both Chancha Via Circuito & Lagartijeando as well as soulful house mixes from DJ Spinna, Pablo Sanchez & Sammy Bananas. Bosq (Whiskey Barons) takes his mix of “Livin' Your Dream” to heavy afro-reggae disco, while Sagaan (Andreas Saag) pushes “The Crow” into deep Detroit analog territories. Also weighing in are Umoja, who strip down “Mystic Molay” featuring Innov Gnawa, and The Spy from Cairo, with a cosmic electro-disco version of “Inmortales” featuring Fémina. This week's premiere arrives from the latest of a new series of edits supporting charities around the world run by the mighty Banana Hill collective. 

London-based producer Delonte Rivers takes on Mop Mop's ethereal track Kamakumba with some subtle tweaks that honours the hypnotic sound of the original.

The initiative will run alongside the Banana Hill party series in Manchester which will be raising money in tandem. Each month (or so), a new edit will be released via Bandcamp and the proceeds will be donated to a selected charity. With over £320 raised for charity since the start of the year. 

Proceeds are going to One Happy Family - Community Center, Lesvos, which is built and run by refugees and for refugees.

Shaolin Dub was written and recorded by Subatomic in the downtime during the pre-production of the "Super Ape Returns To Conquer" album with Lee Scratch Perry and inspired by the mostly instrumental African jazz influenced dub reggae on the original Super Ape album but re-contextualized in a Subatomic production environment that includes both analog and digital recording & mixing technology. Additional live instrument recording was done in Brooklyn at the Bridge Studio and is documented in the EMC educational video with Subatomic Sound System on live dub mixing. "Shaolin Dub" has been performed live throughout the 2017-2019 tours but never released until now.

With this release Black Redemption presents a travel back in time to the year 1977 and offers a fresh take on two roots classics.
Side A holds a roaring relick of the famous anthem ’Prophecy’ by Fabian Miranda, while on side B the needle reveals an uptempo version of the well known Everton Dacres tune ‘Jah Jah Come’. Both come to new life with these unique reinterpretations by Sista Zari from Mexico on vocal duties and Mighty Massa from Japan on production. Classic material reconstructed with a distinctive touch and sound, including some dub excursions to make the musical journey complete…
Both sides were transferred to 1/2inch Tape for extra analogue warmth, and mastered and cut with care by Star Delta / Delta Disc, UK.

Cornell Campbell's I Man A The Stall-A-Watt collects 32 tracks across two CDs (13 tracks on one vinyl LP), highlighting the singer's prominence in the golden era of reggae from the early 70s to early 80s. The title is a boast from the early soundclash era when many of Campbell's tracks, here produced primarily by Bunny Lee, would play first on King Tubby's Home Town Hi-Fi in Jamaica. The songs, compiled by Chris O'Brien, run the range from clash-ready standards like "Mash You Down" and "The Gorgon" to cultural commentaries like "Jah Jah Me Horn Yah" and "Bandulu" to a lover's masterpiece, "The Investigator," which leads off the set. Stretching into the early 80s, the collection includes two originals that would spawn countless reinterpretations, "Rope In" and "Boxing Around."

Summer Dub(plate) & (Re)Mix (Luciano, Soom T, Charlie P, YT, Marley..)

Deeply embedded in Amsterdam’s local music scene, Radical Hi-Fi has been representing the legacy of dub, reggae, rub-a-dub and dancehall in the Dutch capital and beyond. Coming from different backgrounds, General K is Red Light Radio’s Lorenzo Milelli and Ketama Man is booker, MC and the Mo from Mo Manager, the duo has been pushing their sound through countless radio shows and gigs since the early 2000s. Their mission is to bring reggae, dub and dancehall to the public without discrimination and show reggae’s influence on the worldwide music scene.

Previously, the duo played an excellent set at last year’s Lente Kabinet Festival, and this year we’re bringing them over to the Adriatic Coast for a dub-laden set at Selectors 2019 — in anticipation of which they recorded a fresh Selectors Podcast. For over a decade Emch has been the producer, selector, and musician behind Subatomic Sound System and the Subatomic Sound label. Founded at the turn of the millennium, NYC’s Subatomic Sound System has built a reputation worldwide for explosive shows, genre bending production, and breaking down barriers with their unique adaptation of 1970’s Jamaican sound system culture and dub reggae studio techniques to all types of bass heavy music genres, current technology, and live performances. A record label, DJ/production crew, live band, and event promoters, the Subatomic Sound crew is at work in NYC on every level. For 3 years, Subatomic Sound Radio blasted out to a footprint of eleven million terrestrial listeners in the greater NYC area on KEXP's Radio New York broadcast, 91.5fm and also via BrooklynRadio.com  

Subatomic Sound System has toured throughout N. America, Europe, & Asia  including with Lee Scratch Perry at NYC's Central Park, RBMA NYC, Poland's One Love, and Moscow's Milk with John Forte.

As the Subatomic Sound record label head, Emch has produced and released dub reggae innovator Lee Scratch Perry's first dubstep tracks plus eclectic collaborations with icons like filmmaker David Lynch, Prince Far-i, & UK punk pioneer Ari Up of the Slits as well as new school torchbearers like Anthony B, Elephant Man, Jahdan Blakkamoore, Dubblestandart, & his own group Subatomic Sound System.
