Dubrovnik (UK) is a subSine resident and a past student of the subSine Academy.

He has recently put together some guest mixes for the Recorder Series and more recently Greyscale, the label where he also released his Planetary Soul EP last year.

We'll be hearing from Dubrovnik (UK) telling us a bit about his mix, and what he has been working on in the studio lately.

Up on hour 2 our guest is a serial producer of quality techno, and one of the leading figures in the Icelandic contemporary techno scene - Ohm.

I finally got my arse in gear and finished a new mix!

Lovely slow burner this one starts on a very deep vibe before I begin to turn up the pace and energy towards the end with some groove-laden Deep Tech, but I assure you nothing too frenetic. I popped in a nice little palate cleanser by Kevin Yost just before the hour mark.

As for the title, it’s the hot season here in Thailand, and it’s a scorcher!
Really enjoying the productions by ‘Neither’ recently and the stuff coming out of Mike Sharon’s label ‘Ultra Knites’; special thanks to Benny S for supplying me with a promo of his yet unreleased track with Luke Hazell ‘A Million Dreams’.

Here Comes The Sun

As the title suggests, some damn deep house is the order of the day for this upload!
16 of the 17 tracks are from Kirill Matveev's excellent MixCult Records label, with the 17th and final track being a superb finisher from Kassian called 8th Movement. Recorded back in February 2021 when I was really into this spacey sound.

I will try to increase the frequency of my uploads to start clearing my backlog, so keep your eyes and ears peeled!

Relentless investment of time, energy and focus; ceaseless digging; learning and developing in the studio and out at gigs and shows etc. have all culminated in him distilling his own unique sound, as demonstrated in this exceptional Celtic vs Rangers match-length mix for Avenue Red. This is a session of exquisite deepness - a relentless, well-controlled onslaught of trippy, glacial, dubbed-out techno & house music.

As promised, I’m back with a Deep Tech Minimal vibe for this release. The mix begins with a steady flow of non-offensive Deep House, including the dreamy 𝗢𝗱𝗲𝗼𝗻 by Dallomo, before picking up pace with the excellent 𝗞𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗻 𝗮 𝗙𝗼𝗹𝗱𝗼𝗻 by Viktor Mato, 𝗟𝗶𝗰𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗲𝘀 by Showlaf, and Oreason’s groover 𝗢𝘃𝗲𝗿.

Artist: Dubrovnik (UK) [Greyscale / OHM Series / Verdant / Mixcult / Lempuyang]

Our 10th voyage into sound is brought to you on this occasion by Chris Currie, better know as Dubrovnik (UK). The Glasgow based DJ & Producer has really been flexing his musical muscles over the last few years with his releases on Greyscale and Verdant, as well has some incredible tracks for OHM series and the mighty Lempuyang. 

His sound is hard to put into one specific box, which is always a good thing. Dubbed out house and techno, euphoric and uplifting while maintaining a level of deepness most can only aspire to. His sound has a uniqueness to it which in this current climate of saturation is the highest compliment we can pay. 

For this Frontier mix Chris has turned in a truly epic hour and 45 minute journey. He kicks  things off in the realms of deep house and heady, atmospheric dubbed out electronica. Before slowly moving through the gears into some real heads down dub techno that wouldn’t be put of place in an abandoned Berlin warehouse. He caps things off with some classy dub leaning techno cuts culminating in some straight up ravey bangers that will get your head nodding.   

We want to thank Chris for this contribution to the series, he certainly got the memo of what we asked for and has knocked it out of the park.

About Dubrovnik [United Kingdom]:

Dubrovnik is a UK based producer & Dj from Glasgow, Scotland. A Dj for over 20 years, his production journey began after attending courses in electronic music production at the famed SubSine Academy of Electronic Music (formerly Shoogle Studios) in Glasgow, under the guidance of Soma Records artist Petrichor (Simon Stokes).



Taking influences from the Glasgow club & music scene, travel, everyday life and artists such as Delano Smith, Steve O'Sullivan, Idealist, Grad_U, Regen, Roger Gerressen & Havantepe to name a few, his productions are the epitome of after hours club music - focusing on groove, intensity & atmosphere.



Having djed in many basement clubs over the years (including Glasgow based Ivan Kutz's Platform 18 and Craig Hamilton & Gourlays Mindset parties) has helped gain many influences & experiences. Using these Dubrovnik has built up a back catalogue of releases with various labels, including Grad_U's sensational Greyscale - with his deep dubbed out Planetary Soul EP contributing to the ever impressive Mood Series releases. His productions have a unique and distinct sound. A connoisseur of deep and emotional music, his productions & dj sets are aligned to take the listener on a journey, very much blurring the lines between house & techno and always with a sprinkling of dub elements.



With future EPs scheduled on Axaminer Records & Alumni Records Glasgow, including many other workings in progress, Dubrovnik is continuing to push his talents and productions to new levels.

Under The Gun V was mixed by A²’s Alec Stone in dedication to his friend and other half of the production duo, Andy Panayi, who sadly passed away a few months ago. We’d never met the guys but have long been big fans of their music and they were due to play our party back in May, which didn’t go ahead for obvious reasons. We were really looking forward to rearranging the gig post-Covid when we heard the news. A big thank you to Rob for arranging this, and Alec for putting together a very special podcast. Our thoughts are with Andy’s friends and family. Merry Christmas x
