Deep, Dark & Dangerous’ exists to provide a platform for creativity, authenticity and sonic storytelling within the paradigm of bass music. 

This is perfectly encapsulated in JLEON’s groundbreaking album, ‘The Awakening of Sibu’ - where the dexterous Costa Rican artist pushes the envelope of what’s possible within 140. 

A captivating statement across 16 immaculately sculpted tracks, the producer fictitiously reimagines the moment Spanish colonisers discovered Costa Rica and encountered the indigenous Borucas people - also the subject of his debut DDD EP back in 2019. 

'Sibu' is one of many names for 'God' among the local tribes and in this tale, Sibu takes the form of a gigantic octopus who brings an army from another dimension to see the Spanish conquistadors off and save the Costa Rican people - with surviving invaders held captive and used for rituals, while others were drowned by mermaids. 

The LP format enables JLEON to express his boundless talents - not just shaping a narrative, but melding his technical prowess and consummate musicality in a package that showcases an artist at the peak of their powers, much like the octopus Sibu itself - where intricate tribal percussion meets dynamic synths and sub-flexing bass.
