تقدم هذه الحلقة لمحة عن المساحات العامة في مدينة الخرطوم، ابتداءً من واجهاتها النيلية، مروراً بميادينها العامة، ووصولاً إلى المصاطب على مستوى الشوارع. من خلال استكشاف هذه المستويات المختلفة في المدينة، نستعرض المؤثرات المتعددة التي أدت لفقدان العديد من المساحات العامة المهمة ولعبت دوراً في محو تاريخها، خصوصا تلك التي شهدت أحداثاً شكلت ذاكرة السكان والمدينة خلال القرن الماضي. 
في خضم هذه الصراعات ما بين السكان والدولة حول الحق في الفضاء العام، سنلقي الضوء على أدوار سياسات وقوانين التخطيط في التعدي على المساحات العامة التي أصبحت مسرحاً تتجلى به أشكالاً متعددة من الرقابة والعنف.

This episode presents an overview of public spaces in Khartoum city from its riverfronts, open spaces, to ‘Almasateb’ on the street scale. Through this cross-scalar exploration of the city, we discuss the various influencers that led to the loss of significant public spaces and played a role in their historical erasure, particularly those that have witnessed momentous events that shaped the collective memory of Khartoum and its residents throughout the past century.
In the midst of the state and people’s conflicts surrounding the right to public space, we highlight the role of policies and planning laws in the encroachment on Khartoum’s public spaces, which in turn, have become arenas for state censorship and violence.

Diese Folge präsentiert einen Überblick über die öffentlichen Räume der Stadt Khartum, von den Flussufern über Freiflächen bis hin zu "Almasateb" an der Straßenrändern. Durch diese vielfältige Erkundung der Stadt diskutieren wir die verschiedenen Einflüsse, die zum Verlust bedeutender öffentlicher Räume führten und eine Rolle bei deren historischen Auslöschung spielten, insbesondere jene, die Zeuge bedeutsamer Ereignisse waren, die das kollektive Gedächtnis von Khartum und seinen Bewohner*innen im vergangenen Jahrhundert geprägt haben.
Inmitten der Konflikte zwischen Staat und Bevölkerung um das Recht auf öffentlichen Raum beleuchten wir die Rolle von Politik und Planungsgesetzen bei der Beschränkung von Khartums öffentlichen Räumen, die ihrerseits zu Arenen für staatliche Zensur und Gewalt geworden sind.
