Maceo Plex - Conjure Balearia

After the very successful foray into split EPs, Luv Shack Records continues to explore this concept with LUV013. The EP sees upcoming duo Space Echo make a return after their smash hit "Soul Power", while the B-side is conducted by Wahlberliner ROTCIV.

"Come Back Home", the opening track by Space Echo, is a slowly building but effortlessly captivating piece of hypnotic house music with a raw funk attitude. The gently evolving synth line and the strong vocal hook are the spine of this anthemic track.

The seemingly laid back "Hangover" just oozes b-movie sleaze and might be Space Echos little hommage to 60's lounge music, with an array of distorted guitars and soft pads coming to good use. That is until the synth theme kicks in mid-track and turns the piece into a late night weapon.

Nocturna is a new project by Andrea Cassino and Danny Lloyd from Tuscany in Italy - A region synonymous with quality underground house techno for many years, Dj's like Francesco Farfa and Alex Neri rose to fame, with clubs like Tenax striving the way forward delivering quality underground line ups week after week, and this is where Andrea and Danny learnt their craft and made good friends with these DJ legends. 

And so to Big Bang we begin, and its an infectious deep layered gem that oozes out from the off, locking you in to its magical groove as the percussion develops and synth stabs intersperse with the rising arpeggiator and subtle pads, your mind is lost inside the chasm of sound before you are gently eased into the sub-bass lined dreamy drop that induces smiles at an instant. 

Hernan Cattaneo & Soundexile are first up on remix duties, and the talented trio strip the vibe right back, with its deep tension creating mood with hints of the melodics subtly infused as we meander effortlessly through the mesmerising odyssey. This excellent remix firmly proves this superb production outfits rich and diverse musical tapestry. 

Next up is Sudbeat label manager Graziano Raffa, a rising name in the underground scene, and who's recent collaboration with Lonya is doing the damage right now. His remix flows with class from the instant it starts, encapsulating a wealth of harmonics peppered throughout, creating a timeless bubbler that will seriously do some damage. 

And if they weren't enough, another original track Microcosmos closes the package, a sprightly voyage, deep yet uplifting, with chiming and tinkling sounds meeting a big low end and warm pads laying a smooth blanket of warmth on top to keep you cosy.

Sebastian Sellares, one of Argentina’s brightest voices in melodic progressive, delivers an extraordinary reinterpretation of Guy J’s “Once In A Blue Moon” — a revered track from the Bedrock universe. Though unofficial, this remix feels every bit as refined and emotionally charged as an official release.

From the first moments, Sellares wraps the listener in a lush, evolving atmosphere. It has not gone by unnoticed that, over the last five years, the Rhein Main area has become a decisive nucleus for innovative, powerful and modern House music. One who is not entirely innocent of this is Mannheim-based DJ, producer and label head Nick Curly, whose imprints 8 Bit and Cécille Records are guarantees for standard-setting electronic dance music. Since his Cocoon debut "Pujante" (2009) and especially since the Party Animals Cocoon Ibiza Summer Mix 2010, he is a frequent and welcome guest at Cocoon's. The three tracks of his "Sun City" EP are an impressive proof for Curly's maturation process: with a clear orientation towards the needs of the dancefloor, he exploits the sound potential of compressed House textures. The title track captivates the listener with a subsonically perfected bass line and a discoid Hi-NRG modulation, forming a deluxe prime time anthem, whereas the dense and dub-referring deepness of "Green Baize" is enchanting just everybody, and, for the final, "Libero"'s rich percussive rhythms are strongly stressing the pelvic thrust. So, virtually nothing can go wrong with Nick's World Tour between Ibiza, Moscow, Manchester and NYC!
