Lucy Loves: September 2014

Italian duo Doomwork have been quietly blazing a trail through the world’s techno and house scenes over the last five years, forming in 2008 and finding rapid success thereafter, appearing on Cocoon, Get Physical, Tronic and Bedrock, and thats just the tip of the Iceberg of what labels they've been on.

Here we have a mighty five track EP of goodness, so lets begin with the title track "Life Element”. 
This serious slab of dance floor goodness, grabs you from the off with its magnificent groove setting out the stall, before the melodics cascade effortlessly, creating a warm edged yet sophisticated aura. 
"Elytra" is next up, and we are led along wonderfully by a hypnotic groove, swaggering along, while infectious tinkles flying around your mind, and low end synthy subb bass creates a further layer of magic. 
Stepping up to create the next piece of magic, we're off to the "Mediterraneo", as we venture deeper, and we strut in to a mesmerising state of bliss, as the sounds integrate to form a befitting wonder. 
Adding another sweltering layer to this superb EP, we find "Favourite Pain" which fuses its excellent pads from the off, conjuring images of sunny climates and all day parties where the parties never end, while locking you in to its masterful vibe.
And to finish us off in fine style, its "Sci Fi" with its chiming harmonics freely oozing over its skippy drums that simultaneously make you want to dance and drift off in equal measure.

Perspectives Digital is pleased to present our first ever Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE) Sampler. The annual Dutch convention has long been a testing ground for the upcoming fall season's biggest records. Highlighting the sampler are new productions from Marc Poppcke, JimiJ, and Namatjira, as well as Darin Epsilon's much anticipated single 'Valencia'. Leading the sampler is Marc Poppcke’s brand new remix of Dutch producer Alessandro Diga's 'End of This Road'. Marc had a fabulous 2013 with releases on Sasha's Last Night on Earth and Parquet Recordings. This is the German producer's first appearance on Perspectives and his unique tech house sound has lent itself quite well to Alessandro's contemporary progressive grooves. Originally released in February of 2012, Marc has reinvented 'End of This Road' with a tight framework that incorporates many of the tantalizing musical themes from the original. Complementing the warm groove are a selection of spacey sounds and smooth electronic swells that are sure to have your full attention. As 2013 quickly approaches its fourth quarter, Perspectives label owner Darin Epsilon has been increasingly busy. His truly global DJ schedule, in conjunction with his production work on Sudbeat, Hope Recordings, and Flow Vinyl have propelled the US producer to new heights this year. The second track on the sampler is his much sought after 'Valencia'. There has been considerable buzz surrounding this production since it aired on Hernan Cattaneo’s Delta FM radio show. It's available here for the first time with a full release forthcoming on Perspectives featuring Jamie Stevens and Dousk remixes. Australian producer JimiJ's releases on Armada and Electronic Elements have been making their mark with both Armin van Buuren and Paul van Dyk this year. JimiJ makes his debut on Perspectives with his latest studio production entitled 'Ephemera'. Fans of Guy J should be delighted with this one as the Aussie's blend of deep tech house grooves and elegant harmonic themes will really strike a chord on the dancefloor. The final track on the sampler sees another exciting artist debut on Perspectives. Dutch producer Namatjira has been a fixture of Holland’s electronic music underground for the last ten years. Working under several aliases, he's found much success with appearances on Lowbit Records, Crossfrontier Audio, and Proton's Particles. 'Liquid Madness' is one of the Dutch producer’s finest musical creations to date. Backed by a deep and sultry groove, the interwoven melodies, angelic vocal stabs, and delicate textures work in perfect harmony for what results in an exquisite journey to close the sampler out. Recorded at John’s last night at The Vagabond Nightclub in Downtown Miami during this year’s Miami Music Week, ‘LIVE IN MIAMI’ features 37 tracks and nearly 4 hours of the very best underground electronic music, spanning across more than two decades.  

Showcasing a wide selection of new and classic records ranging from as far back as 1992 (Secret Knowledge – Sugar Daddy) and 1993 (Nicole – A Small Entrance To A Large Spectrum and Laurent Garnier – Acid Eiffel) Digweed’s latest opus effortlessly takes us through a vast array of sounds, eras and genres from what was an incredibly special night back in March of this year.

From some major reminiscent acid moments of the early 90s right through the years to the upfront house and techno soundscapes of present day, John Digweed blends tracks from some of the most notable producers into one seamless mix that truly captures the spontaneity and vibe of the crowd in one of the world’s coolest, most intimate and unorthodox clubbing destinations.

Like stepping into a warm electronic sound bath, Chaim’s latest release for Visionquest ripples with pulsing sonic textures and propels forward at a softly galvanic pace as the slowly emerging melody takes hold in ‘Underwater’. B side ‘Remember When’ is just as compelling - a slightly tougher edge and darkly euphoric atmosphere injected with sporadic chimes, disembodied voices and dramatic synth stabs. Now being based in the hub of electronic talent that is Berlin, Chaim is still a true stand out artist in today's fast paced digital world. After a wave of stunning releases on labels such as Supplement Facts, Cocoon and MBF, for a time Chaim worked exclusively with the Berlin based BPitch Control imprint. His acclaimed debut album 'Alive' released spring 2011 on the label and this season his monster Ibiza anthem ‘Blue Shadow’ (on Rumors), has proven his powerful, individual productions to be some of the highest quality club tracks around.

Fusing solid bass heavy grooves, clearly inspired by his love for those classic jacking Chicago jams, hypnotic synth hooks, trademark affected percussion, live instrumentation and vocal snippets, Chaim's unique and organic sound always makes an impact. Underpinned by top-class studio knowhow, his crisp, forward thinking records are a joy to drop in front of even the biggest crowds.
