Bucking the trend of modern artists, Hicky & Kalo made their name for carving out a niche in the underground scene as resident DJs at the one of its kind Stereo Club in Montreal, as well as landing releases on some progressive house top labels such as Mango Alley, onedotsixtwo and Replug. And of course by spreading great music trough their own imprint, Plaisir Sonores.

The EP opens with ‘Coming Back Home’, where a dark groove emerges with spiky bass. Lightening the track, pretty arps dance playfully as heavily effected vocal ad libs add depth. One for the late floors waiting for the sun to make its first appearance of the day. 
‘From Sea to Sea’ continues the trend; deep satisfying low end grooves juxtaposed by breezy arps. A muscular, and ultimately danceable floor filler. 
Finally, the pair lay down some ‘Wisdom’(!), a lighter number with tons of character. Ethereal and uplifting, the groove is richly melodic and hypnotic from the off.

Plaisirs Sonores Records proudly announces the release of the 'Shining EP' by prolific DJ/ producer D-Nox and Sharon Graziani, with a captivating remix by label founders Hicky & Kalo. This new release will be available on all major platforms from August 25th, 2023.

D-Nox, a DJ Awards winner with a career spanning over 30 years in electronic music, teams up with sound engineer and music producer Sharon Graziani for a rolling progressive house original 'Shining.' It features atmospheric synths, catchy melodies, and trancy-ish vocals that create an entrancing sonic journey. The synergy between D-Nox's seasoned musical artistry and Graziani's adept production expertise shines through in the track's remarkable depth and dynamism.

Complementing the original, label founders Hicky & Kalo take the track on a darker ride with their remix. This version of 'Shining' emphasizes the strong melody, adding a hefty kick and edgy vibe, transforming it into a peak-time dancefloor weapon. 

Hicky & Kalo shared their experience, stating: "We've played this track a few times with great success. It always works so well in a club setting. The reception has been incredible, and we are excited for the wider audience to hear this."

D-Nox's illustrious career is notable for his international bookings and his exceptionally outstanding success in Brazil, where he commands a significant fanbase. Starting his musical journey in the early 90s, he became a significant figure in his hometown's music scene, Düsseldorf. He further cemented his mark in the industry by being one half of the duo D-Nox & Beckers. The duo has been releasing hits on prestigious labels such as Bedrock, Suara, and Sudbeat since 2004, in addition to D-Nox's own label, Sprout Music.

Sharon Graziani, the founder of Shagra Recordings, brings a wealth of experience from various projects like Monolock Music and Sandokan Music. His influences range from classic music and ethnic beats to the rhythms of nature, contributing a unique flavor to the 'Shining EP.'

The 'Shining EP' is a testament to the relentless pursuit of creating music that not only resonates with listeners but also pushes the boundaries of progressive house music. It is a significant addition to Plaisirs Sonores Records' growing catalogue and represents the label's ethos of delivering driving yet emotionally rich music.

Premiere: Sahar Z & Navar - When We Face Reality (Khen Bronzed Re Edit) [Lost & Found]

As a rising star with an impressive 2018, Mio and His Flute found himself integral to the Particles artist roster. Now returning to the label, the German producer presents "Ping Pong in Space".

With his Particles debut, "Barbecue on the Moon" debut, Mio and His Flute created a wonderful slice of progressive heaven. Now, the title track of his sophomore effort is full of the Freiburg artist's trademark attention to detail as elegantly crafted rhythms and freeform lead riff give a distinctive flavour of far off lands. Meandering across a near ten-minute journey, the track waxes and wanes, held together by a metronomic four/four beat and a raft of panned effects and club-friendly rhythms. "Brimborium" is characterised by a wonderful plucked earworm riff repeated in hypnotic fashion while a subtle percussive groove is the perfect backdrop. Final track, "Summa Summarum" continues the penchant for strong melodic lines as an intricate riff works in syncopated fashion with robust groove and middle-eastern timbres. Pausing for breath at the mid-point with rich pad tones, the third movement creates a mesmerising and original work.

Both successful artists in their own rights with music signed to Balkan Connection, Clinique and Superordinate, the Argentinean pair of N'Pot and Nahue Juarez hit the headlines with their 2016 "Selcouth" EP for Stellar Fountain, before "Endless Summer" showcased the duo's talents on Particles in April 2018. The four-track offering shone a spotlight on the duo's collaborative work together and it a pleasure to welcome them back to the label remixing Mio and His Flute. Taking "Ping Pong Space", N'Pot and Juarez have generated a clever remix that builds upon the elements in the original, turning them into a deep, club-friendly track. Adding a swathe of additional sounds and melody N'Pot and Juarez have retained the themes of Mio's work while creating an innovative new narrative.

Argentinean, Antrim, is no stranger to success in the underground dance scene with over 400 production credits found against the Cordoba resident's name for the likes of Balkan Connection Perspectives Digital and Clubsonica. Supported by a DJ elite that includes Nick Warren, Eelke Kleijn and Hernan Cattaneo, his debut on the "Summer Particles 2014" compilation with "Metheny", went on to see a release of its own with remixes from GMJ and Simos Tagias. January 2018's "Dizziness" was a further highlight as Antrim now returns with a glorious club-friendly remix of "Brimborium". Redolent in pulsating bassline emotion, Mio and His Flute's central melody soon comes to the fore anchoring the Antrim remix to the original. Building effortlessly, a sublime a new riff appears in the third movement along with sumptuous pads and a rolling clave percussion to create a strong and mature reworking.

A trio of new tracks alongside remixes from N'Pot and Nahue Juarez and Antrim have found Mio and His Flute champion of "Ping Pong in Space".

The Russian Linesman continues his 2020 journey and gets side-tracked halfway through his six-part ‘Monomyth’ EP series with a highly creative palette cleanser. This exciting remix project features two excellent dancefloor orientated interpretations of ‘Entering The Belly Of The Whale’ courtesy of legendary musical astronaut Patrick Prins and the dynamic studio duo, Nick Warren & Nicolas Rada.

Patrick Prins, renowned for his unique originality and diversity in sound. His sonically precise remix portfolio is extensive and includes – just scratching the surface – Sia, Daft Punk, Felix, The Doors, Björk, Pet Shop Boys, Dua Lipa and Najwa Nimri, amongst many others. A man of numerous artistic aliases, he has reinvigorated his legendary Castle Trancelott guise (whose ‘The Gloom’ on the legendary Sasha & Digweed ‘Northern Exposure’ mix comp made a huge impression on the Russian Linesman back in 1998) to create an outstanding remix. 

The Soundgarden’s electronic figurehead, Nick Warren, has re-connected with rising Argentinian superstar Nicolas Rada for their contribution to this bold remix venture. Nick’s place in the dance music halls of fame is well established and for Nicolas, the journey is still just unfolding, and their unique creative chemistry is in full flow here.

Each EP in the Russian Linesman’s ‘Monomyth’ EP series (from which this remix project has evolved)is named after the relevant part of the Hero’s Journey (referenced from Joseph Campbell’s fascinating book ‘A Hero with a Thousand Faces’. The Monomyth, or Hero's Journey, is the common template of a broad category of storytelling that involves a hero who goes on an adventure, and in a decisive crisis wins a victory, then comes home changed or transformed. The Russian Linesman’s own unique adventure will continue soon with “Monomyth IV –Apotheosis”.

Continuing what has been a strong collaborative partnership, Ezequiel Arias and Artfaq return to Cid Inc's Replug Records for a new EP. Based in Cordoba, Ezequiel Arias sits firmly amongst progressive music's elite, with releases on Anjunadeep, Sudbeat and The Soundgarden highlighting his discography, along with support from the genre's premiere tastemakers Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren. Similarly, Nacho Ferroni and Nacho Varela aka Artfaq also hail from Cordoba and lay claim to an impressive resume, showcasing their music on Sudbeat and The Soundgarden. Having made their collaborative debut with the 'Babel' EP via Replug in February of 2019, the trio now unite once again for a much-anticipated follow-up entitled 'Aerial'.  

As progressive music continues to evolve, it's artists like Ezequiel Arias and Artfaq who continue to push the genre's creative envelope. 'Aerial' is a prime example of this with its unique contrast of rhythm and musicality. A bed of warm, rippling bass lays the foundation for a blend of meditative motifs and creamy tones. Building subtly through an evolving sheet of granular haze and timely effects, its tranquil tension comes to full fruition during the main break, before perfectly segueing into a percussive drop and driving finale. 

The second selection 'Duality' moves closer to peak time with edgier design and dramatic undertones. Pulsating and energetic, it's a creation built around tough beats, acidic rhythms and razor-sharp effects. Its relentless drive becomes infectious across the first act, perfectly setting the stage for a shift in narrative, as striking overlays highlight a cavernous break, splitting moods between the tense and emotive, eventually melting down into a dominant third act.  

The release is capped off in excellent fashion with the subversive vibes of 'Varial'. Traditional sensibilities get set aside here, as the trio marry hazy harmonics with esoteric lines over a robust and imminently groovy foundation. Tranquil and trippy in equal measure, the near two-minute centrepiece gradually heightens the senses through tasteful modulation and slow burning percussion, before getting washed away in a rush of white noise for a rhythmically charged finale.

With the 'Aerial' EP Ezequiel Arias and Artfaq add a second chapter to their creative synergy. One which continues to push the boundaries of progressive music and thus solidifying their place at the forefront of the genre's movement.

Montreal natives and resident DJs at the world famous Stereo club, Hicky & Kalo are Canada’s latest greatest export. Both classical trained musicians and University graduates, they have gone on to craft a stellar reputation for their inimitable edge, commitment to the scene and penchant for deep melodic grooves. 

Opening with lead track ‘Solstice’, pretty arps, warm pads and a loose percussive groove are all thats needed. Picking up pace in the midsection with a galloping bass, pressure builds to the final epic break. Employing a rolling tribal groove, ‘Jasmine’ opens with more oomf. Keys, field recordings  and ethereal pads all keep things light. Finally, ‘Tarde de Sentimiento’ takes the EP in wildly different directions. Subtly Indian in sound design, it slowly gathers pace until the climatic break mid way. A solid EP and we welcome the guys to the Sudbeat family.

'Proton Music regulars and a thoroughly talented duo, LADS consistently astonish with their unique song-making and production abilities. June 2020's "Stoyote" was no exception and it is therefore a pleasure to see a return to the EP via a pair of stunning remixes from US and Greek artists.

Simos Tagias is an artist with a long and growing history with Proton Music. Able to point to well over a triple century of production credits, the Greek artist's work for Mango Alley, Replug and Hernan Cattaneo's Sudbeat, sees an artist at the summit of the progressive house scene with a distinctive and mature sound. As such, Proton has been a regular home for Simos Tagias with a pair of original EPs that began with 2017's twin-track "Airlock" and continued with 2018's "Audacity". Furthermore, a host of remixes for the likes of Soulwerk, Tim Penner and, most recently, Dimuth K's "Beams Aglow" in March 2020, have impressed. Now, taking on the title track, the Simos Tagias remix of "Stoyote" is a typically dynamic affair that bristles with percussive flair via machine-gun fire hi-hats and seismic kick. Building in rhythmic layers, melodic elements from the original float across the eight-minute piece in familiar refrains as an array of additional production material and reverb-coated effects pan across the stereo spectrum with ease. An effortless rolling groove adds to the sonic collage in club-friendly splendour via a remix that is testament to Simos Tagias' skill and craft.'
