I was playing around the my new Meris Hedra pitch shifting triple delay pedal and my Hideki Nakanishi custom Tenor Electric Guitar and was 
really loving my wife today and wishing we could all live forever.

DON'T WANNA LOSE YOU

This is a new tune that I just finished to try and utilize the Afro-Cuban polyrhthmic approach to 
Jazz rhythm.     I don't always have the luxury of playing with lots of trumpets and flutes (as is the case with this arrangement) so I mocked this up just to hear the sound.
I'll probably play it with one flautist and on flugelhornist live at my weekly jazz gig at Hoffman's Patisserie in Santa Cruz, California every Friday night.

It's inspired by our desire for rain here in Northern California and by the beautiful film 'Blade Runner', based on the beautiful speech that the dying Replicant played by Rutger Hauer makes towards the end of the film.

There's no doubt that women have made huge advances since the years when male scientists would openly tell women they didn't belong. But that doesn't mean that suddenly everyone has cast aside biases and assumptions they may not even know they have.

Most of us know to check ourselves when we're doing something blatantly wrong, but at the same time, most of us aren't able to step back and question small decisions we make, from which student we call on in class to which lab worker will get a raise.

Experimenting tonight, exhilirated that millions of Americans stood up for Democracy yesterday..........using some beautiful freeware Patcher preset in FL Studio and experimenting 
with the use Pitch and Grain,  Hammer und Meiszel and BLEAS Tape Op using only 
a 70's drum machine as a sound source..................fun.  I learned so much today about Patcher.

NO KINGS DAY SUCCESS

I've been so sad about the horrible attack in Orlando this past week:  really upset by how angry and violent this country has become;  how divided and frightened we all seem to be. How even good friends can't agree on issues like gun control;   After how far gay rights have come in recent times,  how incredibly far we still have to go to have a world that accepts all people's lifestyle decisions, as long as they don't harm anyone.

Improvising this tonight seemed to be the only thing that made me feel better because I finally was able to cry playing it.  

This is for all of the victims and every one that they touched.
We will not forget Orlando!

This is a live looping piece I recorded in the middle of night before last.
6 a.m.  I think, when I finished.     I edited it down from a long, wanky 9 minutes, but it perfectly captured my mood so, pleased.

I might write lyrics for it.........not sure yet.

Adventure Winter

The idea of this work is from a video game Zelda poster behind my work desk. Every time I have a zoom meeting and observe myself from the camera, I always see the poster showing adleZ instead of Zelda. This work is my first exploration and practice of music programming language RTcmix, which I used it to generate and process sounds. The piece was composed in early 2021, performed by myself.
