mason bee is the solo project of benet walsh, best known as long-term collaborator and touring instrumentalist with warp records duo plaid. his debut album ‘play flights’ is a diverse patchwork of influences ranging from glitch guitars to choral folk mantras, invoking the spirit of 70s experimental record-making.

Plaid (pronounced \ˈplad\) are the London based electronic music duo Andy Turner & Ed Handley. They are two of the founding members of The Black Dog, releasing their first EP in 1989 and signing to Warp Records in 1991. They have used many other pseudonyms including; Atypic, Repeats and Balil, but have focusing on Plaid since 1995. They have released 11 studio albums as Plaid, from 1991's 'Mbuki Mvuki', to 2022's 'Feorm Falorx'. 

Various sources claim they took their name “Plaid” from the Welsh word for “Party”.

My day job(s) are as artist and farmer. However, I bought an old Jupiter 8 in a second-hand store in 1990, and my life has never been the same since!
As one half of duo "The Collectors," I released one album, "Galapagos," through Mantis Recordings, and another E.P, "Midnight Bulbs," as a self release. I have also had various releases with Pork Recordings ( on both Dubplates from the Lamp compilations, ) and also Sunday Best.
“Inner Space” is my first proper solo album, and features Benet Walsh ( Plaid co-writer and the other half of The Collectors ) on clarinet, also Sam Kelly on drums
Currently obsessed by all things Modular, as you can hear....
