On Friday 6th June, the Dutch drum & bass producer, Lenzman, will toast the release of his Looking At The Stars album live in Room One. Released on Goldie’s inimitable Metalheadz label the fifteen track long player explores the Amsterdam based maestro’s brew of overtly musical, soulful blend of d&b. Saying “I wanted this album to be personal more than anything,” Lenzman’s certainly created a balanced album that fully reflects the spectrum of human emotion, [as the press release puts it] “from introspection to confidence and doubt”.

We’ll be catching up with Lenzman in depth and proper next week, but for now he’s pre-empted the interview, his album and the launch party by bestowing on us a 33 minute mix that includes and highlights the potency of a few upcoming cuts from Looking At The Stars…

Bouncing back onto Dispatch with the first of two new EPs, DBR UK arrive with four tracks that make up their “Say What You Want EP”, alongside vocal support from Amanda Seal as well as Structured on the production front.  

Opening with “Paranoia”, its serious roller business from the Luton based trio; an essential head swinger for the arsenal. Dark, raucous beats form the core of the EP, as the sirens of rap tinged “Kick’n Ya Door” echo over the murky, twisted low ends in a raw encounter. 

Offering an escape from the darkness, title track “Say What You Want” takes a more retrospective stance, with the vocals of Amanda Seal softly balancing throughout the track and holding all the elements together effortlessly. Skipping to the last track, the vocals harmonise with lighter pads, only to set the calm scene before “The Storm”. Structured features on the final track to close off the EP in explosive DBR fashion.

Retaining the minimal nature of the hip hop original, the half time intro draws you in: Metropolis spits his fire bars before it twists and switches into a techy, bass driven beast. Orifice Vulgatron handles the breakdown, his rapid fire delivery amping you up for round two with more ice cold percussion edits.

We have been eagerly awaiting their return to Dispatch and in Spring 2015, we are pleased to welcome back Amoss to the label for a three track single. 

Developing their signature sound and technical prowess, the duo balance a mixed palette of styles for various moods, demonstrating a maturity and increased versatility in production in their first label release since the acclaimed ‘State of Suspension EP’.

Jumping straight in at the deep end, the pair set off the release with a much anticipated first collaboration with Dutch counterpart Fre4knc, for ‘Oxide’. Sinister growls cut across this ominous stepper, held in check by a clean, yet brutal bassline that retains all the deadly energy of the track, whilst smoothly cutting through the mix.
	
Switching the flavours and vibes, Amoss allow their Special Forces influences to seep through with ‘Hold Back’. An inquest into the percussive elements, the pressure is raised to deliver a high octane drum focused workout. A careful selection of toms and snares give the track a very organic, almost live feel.

Taking things up a notch towards the fatal crescendo, the London based duo journey a little darker on the destructive ‘Skittles’. Combining haunting atmospherics, razor sharp beats and unrelenting technical stabs ahead of and following the drop, this neck snapper was built for the dancefloor, possessing all necessary formulae for chaos.

A purveyor of the spectrum’s deeper end, re-known for an ever quality output, we’re pleased to present the 2nd album from Zero T, entitled ‘Golden Section’, coming on Dispatch this Autumn.

Taking its name from a classical mathematic formula (illustrated on the album’s artwork), Zero T explores the science and maths behind beauty; the factors and stimuli that govern our perception of balance, harmony and beauty in nature, art, architecture and composition.

Exploring intrinsic reactions to music and how discerning elements can balance against one another, Zero T ventures into the senses across the album; from the mesmerising nostalgia of ‘Macushla’ and dubbed out roller ‘Everything Must Change’, to dancefloor poised punishers ‘Good For Nothing’ and ‘Wolf Tone’.

Comprised of 13 original tracks, plus two additional bonus tracks, the digital album predominantly features solo jaunts, such as the blissful title track ‘Golden Section‘ and opened by the elegantly arranged ‘Late Nite Movies’, however a few special guests also join the picture, for some more technically focused collaborations.

Linking up with Fierce on the unrelenting, yet, mischievously sampled ‘Cross It’, Zero T also joins fellow Dubliner Beta 2, with two industrial workouts, including harsh stomper, yet groove driven ‘Cairo’.

Utilizing the technical apparatus to investigate a long adopted term, Zero T carefully maps out the indices to deliver a classic, all-encompassing long player that evokes the senses in numerous ways.
