Rhythm Büro is a new record label based out of Kiev, Ukraine started by DJ and promoter Igor Glushko. The büro first began as a local party series organised by Igor, Alexander Pavlenko (aka Na Nich; widely known in the drum’n’bass world as Sunchase) and Vera Logdanidi (aka Vero). Since the party’s beginning in March 2015, Rhythm Büro has hosted such greats as Zadig, Abdulla Rashim, Etapp Kyle, Eric Cloutier, Woo York, Artefakt, Acronym, Steve Bicknell and Actress all at different non-club warehouse-like locations around Kiev. A peculiar aspect of the Rhythm Büro team’s objective has been to maintain secrecy about the exact location of the party until a day prior to the event, when ticket buyers are then informed about the location via text message or email. The label was started to be the logical and progressive extension to what Rhythm Büro has established itself to be locally: one of Ukraine’s prominent techno initiatives.
For the first release of the label, Na Nich and Vero have contributed two joint-produced tracks that are to become their first publicly available material under their current aliases. While A1 leans itself to the soundscape that is more or less typical for Rhythm Büro parties: trippy, hypnotic and transportive techno, A2 hits the floor with refreshing zeal, bringing an electro-esque break-beat under deep and emotive synth layers. The B side contains two remixes of the title track, one of which is thoroughly tailored by the Dutch-born-Berlin-based-duo, Artefakt (mostly known for their releases on Delsin, Prologue and Field) as well as a strong and heady remix by Semantica Records’ mastermind, Svreca.

Rhythm Büro’s fourth release is a much anticipated EP from one of it's co-cofounders, Na Nich aka Alexander Pavlenko. Pavlenko has been making music for nearly 20 years, most notably under the alias Sunchase. With the latter project, he was known in the drum and bass world as something of a child prodigy, but more recently Pavlenko started applying his artistry towards soundscapes that can be filed into the techno category. In the last four years he’s been first and foremost involved with Rhythm Büro, a techno initiative, party series and label from Kiev, Ukraine, that has since become well-regarded among DJs and dancers internationally.

This EP marks Na Nich's first solo EP, following a track featured on Semantica Records’ anniversary compilation ‘Arquitectura del Sueño’, along with a few tracks appearing on Rhythm Büro’s previous VA releases.

RB004 opens on the A1 with a track entitled ‘The Key’ which is one of the first tracks made by Na Nich. The listener is gently introduced to an ambient wonder wall before some percussive elements open up and synths set the mood: a transportive journey led by a kalimba-infused melody which swells with a certain ambiguity that seems to lend a shamanistic touch. A2’s ‘DVA’ is a more four-to-the-floor dubbed-out gentle fist pumper, with melting synth melodies and foggy layers backdropped by steady reaching high-hats and a consistently wise kick drum. A strong element of the psychedelic and inquisitive is much present.

The B side of the record is another part of the story: B1's ‘Log’ is an epic night-finisher dreamscape, a strong element of space seems to be the focus here as beats play less present in this foggy cinematic soundtrack to a film that has yet to be made. The remix version by Luigi Tozzi on B2 reminds us how deep this prolific Italian artist can take us down the rabbit hole. For fans of danceable, groove-centered and though provoking tunes to loose one's and find one's mind to.

‘Rise And Shine’, the first full Ostgut Ton solo release by Substance (aka @Peter-Kuschnereit), sees him fusing his deep, industrial aesthetic with the resonant bass-heavy leanings of his alter ego DJ Pete, as evidenced on the title track’s off-kilter metallic riddims and multiple, interlaced SH-101 and Prophet 5 melodies. From there, potential set-closer “Countdown” blasts off with relentlessly rattling, scraping breaks, hissing German vox and big chords. The compact explorations of “Bird Cave” and “Distance” offer a more atmospheric take on bass and rhythm, while EP closer “Cruising” re-explores the uncanny, Berlin deep techno cosmos Kuschnereit has helped define, this time in denser form.
