Alchemy (live looped electric violin)

The collaboration between Quixotic and The Human Experience expands beyond the sonic experience and into the mixed media world. Quixotic blends world class music with performance art, using cutting edge visual projections with aerial, dance, and fire ballet to convey mysterious and beautiful worlds. On this release, Quixotic's own live band collaborated with David Block's cinematic compositions to create a synesthetic explosion on the senses.

Over the course of two years, Block worked with Shane Borth (Violin/Viola) and Anthony Magliano (Hang Drum/Percussion), sending files back and forth, receiving direction from Borth and Magliano as to what kind of musical landscapes they were envisioning for the performance.  Finally, "From The Outside Looking In" was born.

The album weaves together sounds from around the world.  Listeners can expect a palette of sensual, global, organic-electronica, fit for one of the most mesmerizing performances on earth.

ABOUT "QUIXOTIC" - CREATIVE VISION:
 
Art that enchants, invigorates, and awakens the imagination has always been born of the rule breakers, and no one is breaking the rules more joyously, more fervently, than Kansas City’s own Quixotic. A melting pot of dance, aerial acrobatics, projection mapping, high fashion, and original live music, Quixotic is a cornucopia of mystical majesty that enraptures audiences who have never even dreamed a night at the theater could be so much fun. It is the joint vision of Magliano and Thomas that has taken the loose collective of avant garde trendsetters and molded them into what the New York Times branded an “innovative circus [company].” This ultra-modern, multi-sensory experience shatters antiquated notions of “a night at the ballet.”

The stunning and surreal environments that set the scene for this experimental movement troupe has aligned its performers with the most progressive acts in the electronic music scene (Dave Tipper and Shpongle, among others), but its undeniable grace, transcendent athleticism, and dogmatic dedication to haute couture also allows Quixotic to flawlessly complement the Kansas City Symphony.

The raw power, immersive experience, and sheer mesmerizing artistry of Quixotic Fusion cannot be conveyed through words, nor can audio or video alone capture the magic of an intense, firsthand glimpse of the collective in action. Mako has gone from strength to strength. He had a stellar year in 2015, he released an EP on the main Metalheadz label and put the finishing touches to the OneMind project in collaboration with DLR that has resulted in an album forthcoming for Headz.
This brings us to 2016 and the release of ‘The Third EP’. The tracks develop the theme Mako has been crafting- stark soundscapes move across well executed breaks and basslines, all in all a massive release for Mako. The artist grows in confidence with each release and it’s great to be able showcase this on Headz.

Remixed - Head Pond (Tantrum Mix)

I've always been a massive fan of Boards of Canada, if its not obvious already!  10-11 years ago I stumbled upon a bootleg recording of one of their extremely rare live performances at the Warp 10 Birthday party in 1999.  The closing tune at this show has always remained a mystery to me.  As far as I know it has no title and has never been released.  It's quite possibly one of my favorite things they have done and really is a shame it never came out. Fast forward to Summer 2012...  Since I am a huge nerd I decided to take this bootleg recording and re-produce it for fun.  Using the recording I laid new drums over the existing drum patterns (almost 100% accurate to original), replayed some synth parts and the bassline.  The only thing I didn't try to re-create was the original vocoder parts and some random samples so I used the bootleg recording for that.  I was tempted to make a shorter 4-5 minute version but I figured I should preserve the piece in its intended length (although the length was most likely due to it being a live jam).

Downloads limited to 100 (sorry I still haven't upgraded my account).  I do not claim rights to the original nor do I intend to ever sell this.  Not sure if I'm violating anything or not with Soundcloud so grab it quick!

Fred V & Grafix, the dynamic duo from Devon, present their debut solo single on Hospital. “Goggles” is a four-track EP featuring the full spectrum of their sound. The “Goggles” EP is fresh, fun and jam-packed with exciting, dancefloor-driven beats that should excite and unite D&B fans for 2013.

With its unassuming bleep intro, “Goggles” will no doubt take some by surprise with its subterranean sounds as bubbling bass and intricate arpeggios develop into the kind of aquatic frenzy you won't have witnessed since doing 50 metres butterfly at school. But wait, “Games People Play” ups the ante with a more recognisable Fred V & Grafix aesthetic - full of polished vocal glow, warm atmospherics, punchy drums and live guitar from Fred Vahrman himself.

Returning to a stripped back, contemplative tone and we have “Denmark Road” with its shimmying soundscape, shuffling breaks and murmuring Calibre-esque sweeps. Beware the epic “Basilisk” awaiting at the end of the EP. This monster has a hypnotizing intro, then bites deep, with a drop dominated by dense, contorting synth work. Awesome.
