For the 19th EP on Heimlich Musik, Cologne-based producer Dario Klein delivers three gloomy bangers accompanied by remix contributions from JOIA, Samaha, Daniel Jaeger, Kapoor and Matija. Inspired by the unique vibe of the streets of Marrakech and based on live jams, the Djeema el Fna EP tells a story of music as a concept beyond consciousness. Built around melodic lead synths and broken drums, dark basslines contribute to the mesmerizing aesthetic of the original mixes JOIA’s interpretation of the title track puts on additional pressure with bass frequencies going right under your skin, while Samaha transforms Djeema el Fna into a euphoric hymn tailored for early morning hours. With an almost criminal bassline, Daniel Jaeger’s version of Rahmos is a housey floor killer. Kapoor’s remix sticks to the vibe of the original but adds a psychedelic touch using hypnotic arpeggios. Rounding up a diverse set of remixes, Matjia’s version of Rahmos is a dreamy composition with a touch of optimism garnished by organic percussions.
The latest EP on Heimlich Musik is painting a colorful picture of downtempo ranging from smooth grooves over melodic tech to cutting-edge industrial bleeps.

Sydka debuted on MŎNɅDɅ with his massive track "Night Creed" as we closed last year's chapter with PɅRŎUSIɅ IV V/Ʌ. Followed by his equally loved and successful track "Halcyon" which found its place on the label shortly after. His sound is unmistakable and is able to open up new spheres within the versatile downtempo genre. Sydkas productions are to the point, crisp and with a deep groove. After he was already represented on our last compilation and is also involved in some current remix projects with us, we are particularly pleased to be able to present Sydka's new EP on our label today, which has the catchy title "Snakes and Ladders".

The saying Snakes and Ladders refers to situations in which people or events appear to go forward and backward, seemingly at random. Everyone can relate to this feeling and knows that life can sometimes feel like an endless loop of recurring experiences. It is all the more important to switch off your head from time to time and simply go with the flow of the moment.

Sydka's EP provides the perfect soundtrack for this vibe. The two originals, which come with his unmistakably groovy and detailed sound, are rounded off by three diverse remixes by Glenn Shaw, Flave and Kon Faber, which all give the original a unique twist.

We are very happy that the EP has finally seen the light of day and want to thank all the artists involved for their great work, as well as Haunted Water for the smooth mastering and Kilian Van de Water for the harmonious artwork.
