The love child of Brooklyn and the Internet, Baauer was born out of noise. A sound that began steeped in the 4/4 dance tradition, slowly took on hip hop tendencies until the two became one. Influenced heavily by southern hip-hop and UK bass sounds, Baauer has found himself smack dab in the middle of the electronic renaissance. He is the delectable fusion of future-crunk and leather shaken aggressively in a bottle for years and has only just opened the top to pour the mixture out.

The beautiful new collaboration from Themselves and WHY? (anticon records) gets the iamxl remix touch.
       
      Themselves, the duo of Doseone and Jel, have teamed up with WHY?, whose main man Yoni Wolf was a member of seminal Anticon group cLOUDDEAD with Doseone, to bring us the song "Canada".
      
      "Canada" was recorded for a possible compilation that hasn't been released; the vibe recalls WHY?'s Alopecia, as do lyrics like "You're showing your pinkest parts in my absence". Both Themselves and WHY? have new albums on the way later this year: CrownsDown and Eskimo Snow, respectively.
            
            Both groups have shifted from their usual hip-hop style to this experimental track which conjures up thoughts of the Postal Service, Air, and Death Cab for Cutie.
            
            iamxl drops in with a club re-touch that retains the downtempo nature of the original.
  
  With an intertwining history between the two groups, dating back to cLOUDDEAD, it’s no surprise that the members of WHY? and Themselves are still friendly and fans of each other’s work - the two bands went into the studio awhile back to lay down this special collaborative track which features all of the members of both groups and vocals from Doseone and Yoni Wolf. Both bands have amazing new LPs out on Anticon in the coming months - WHY?’s Eskimo Snow (out 9.22) and Themselves’ CrownsDown (out 10.20)

We are very excited to be releasing these new tunes this month. The "Lone Star EP" has been several months in the making, and contains some of our freshest ideas and sounds yet. "Lone Star" is a track we created while on our first tour through Austin, TX this past summer. We experimented and refined Lonestar's sound through playing it live at places such as Wakarusa, Sonic Bloom, and River Beats. The experiences during this first tour helped us find our sound and grow even more as a band and as musicians individually and collectively. The track features Lucy Guyver from Boulder on the Violin and utilizes various drum samples that were recorded over the past year in two different studios.

We will be releasing all 3 tracks from the EP each Tuesday of this month (10/16 - 10/23 - 10/30) on our Soundcloud page for free download.
