100 years ago the world lived in chaos. Huge wars between humans, as well as great advances in technology that changed forever the face of the world, a world that according to many artists, lived as a prisoner of the rational mind and that did not allow us humans to understand life and the Universe in its wide spectrum.
This is how, with its mystical origin in Dadaism, Surrealism was born. A movement that sought to explore and venture into the limits of the human mind through art. Initially literature, but also reaching the visual arts and so much more. Then decades later, the first psychedelic artists were born, much closer to music in its origins and who represented a rebellion against the established norms in the face of a world in chaos.
Today after 100 years, the scenario is complex again. There are wars, there is a technological revolution and the world is coming out of a great chaos caused by a virus that produced a great crisis. Can we perhaps learn something from the ideas of surrealism, to understand today's world?, remove ourselves from the entirely rational mind to which technology and the "information society" push us, to finally understand the world from an alternative perspective?
Making this compilation was a leap into the void, a mixture of psychic automatism and cadavre exquis (exquisite corpse) that ended with a very free, authentic and very fresh result, with the wonder of the unexpected, including very purely electronic songs, with ideas of techno and even psy trance, like other more tropical ones with psychedelic cumbia, of course others more pop and the others, those that are usually there in our music, the ones totally trippy.
We hope you enjoy this great compilation full of freedom and unusual ideas, which will help you connect with another world through music, rhythm and love, thank you eternally!

The Ancient New is Holed Coin's first E.P. on Scorpios Music. Expectations and preconceptions were all dashed into a haze when Holed Coin produced it with total creative freedom given to each musician - Miguelo Delgado’s guitars and María García’s cello and vocals in particular seem to pull the music in and out of various dreamlike states on a whim.

The result is abundant, with beach-ready electronica jostling with bluesy and soulful tones and the occasional soupçon of gospel. The Ancient New compels the listener to dance individualistically, think pluralistically, and simply be.
Holed Coin is the creation of Seville DJ and musician Jose Carlos Acal Blanco. Jose tells stories and invokes feelings in the listener with a fusion of organic and electronic sounds — duties shared by synthesisers, drum machines, and field recordings, as well as the guitar of Antonio Malavé, the contrabass of Roberto Barroso, and the voice of María García.

In solo sets or group performances in Berlin, Rome, Ibiza, Amsterdam, Barcelona, Madrid, and others, Holed Coin shares energies full of ethnic rhythms drawing influence from downtempo and electronic world music.

Holed Coin’s first EP was released in 2014 by Sonora Records and since then their tracks have been published by labels like Bar25, Pipe & Pocket, Earthly Delights, Ready Mix Records, Lndkhn, Dream Awake, Lebensfreude Records, Nifu Nifa Records, Underyourskin Records, Lump Records, Cosmic Awakenings, Heimlich and more.

The result is a mix of ancestral energy and charm that embodies the popular spirit of Italy. This song is the line that divides darkness from light, two worlds that touch themselves  and move on the rhythm of a pained and ancestral dance.

The single features two remixes, both stemming from the collaboration between Andrea Cota and Tropicantesimo, a collective from Rome.
One remix is by Front de Cadeaux, a duo comprising Dj Athome and Hugo Sanchez, an active member of the Roman collective, while the other one is by Fabio Fabio, another duo hailing from Ivrea. Mondocane met Dj Foresta (half of Fabio Fabio duo), during an event at the Fanfulla club in Rome, where the dj was playing. The connection between the two was immediate, instantly leading to a live performance together with Andrea’s live synthesizer improvisations on his DJ set.
