I am all about listening and just listening, although I used to record stuff and play around too. 
I tend to vary a lot..I can listen to classical music for days and then jump onto some pretty hardcore dancey stuff with ease.
My latest favs are Tale of Us, Mario Basanov aka Ten Walls, Avatism and Mind Against.
Rival Consoles is also coming out with some superb stuff recently! SOUL is an amazing tune.
Ditto for Chancha Via Circuito.
Then I discovered Jonwayne from La Habra in the States. I saw him live at Birthdays in East London and loved it throughout. He's got some pretty interesting lyrics.
I've got many more of course but I wouldn't know where to start from.
