This is the snippet mix for the Amlak Redsquare´s single "Judges (Kabanjak Remix", which is out on the 4th of August 2017.

Jamaican singer Amlak Redsquare, the nephew of legendary Dancehall artist Spragga Benz, is an upcoming energetic Reggae artist with a strong political dissent in his music. 

After performing on the same Reggae event in Cologne as Switchstance Recordings head Tom Strauch that meeting resulted in a vocal feature on Kabanjak´s latest release „Dubs & Downs“. However that collaboration was just the start for more to come. 

While having his solo album „Book Of Judges“ out making heavy rotation in the international Reggae world Amlak asked Kabanjak to do a remix for his title track „Judges“. That one come out so strong that it was an easy decision to give it it´s own proper release. 

Being big time Reggae heads we here at Switchstance Recordings are happy to present this uplifting but same time socially critical artist who brings back the positive power and guidance of the original Rastafari movement. Welcome to the world of Amlak Redsquare!

BROKEN PUPPETS were formed out of the rugged underground culture of the live music scene where rare talent, touring, and quality performance are basic fundamentals needed to earn respect in the field. When (The Poet) Azeem (Brooklyn NY / US) and Ancient Astronauts (Cologne / Germany) united, no one can argue they brought all the above to the table. Wax Poetics Magazine have described the German production duo´s style as:  

“…Downtempo grooves, hard Hip Hop, and banging Dub…that keep your head nodding start to finish.”

Add the dexterity, and lyrical passion of (The Poet) Azeem, a spontaneous revolution, with a twist of science fiction, and you may get a glimpse of what this group has to offer.

 The most repeated quote about their music - “I hear something different or new every time I listen.” - Stands as testament to the timeless essence of the album which is rarely found in urban pop music today. When asked how they plan to maintain integrity in todays commercialized sex sells music industry Azeem states:

“They say the first rule of good business is to find something the community actually needs that is unavailable and supply it to them. There is a wide lane open in the industry where intelligent lyrics mixed with quality music isn´t being filled. The world is thirsty for this music right now. I think that's why we're already gaining attention from just a few leaked songs.”

Kabanjak and Dogu of Ancient Astronauts are well known for their signature sound in list of collaborations with artists such as The Pharcyde, Tippa Irie or Thievery Corporation. Both agree that the BP's album will be a force on its own.

“As DJ's who have played the European and US circuit for years, we've learned it´s important to have our own unique sound and style on whatever we stand behind. Without that you can't survive.” says Kabanjak.

“As a DJ I always test new songs in my sets to check the crowd reaction. If the crowd is rocking to it you know you´re on the right track.” says Dogu. “I was really excited by the first reactions. People loved the tunes.”

"Switchstance" is taken from the culture of boardsports, meaning the skill used to change the stance (easily) by switching one's foot position. The stance in freestyle Snowboarding or Skateboarding, is either riding in "regular" (left foot forward) or "goofy" (right foot forward) position. This identifies a really skilled rider and opens up a whole new world of trick combinations.

The label's creed and therefore the style of its producers and DJs is to have ultimate freedom, whether in their musical movements or in "switching" between various styles. The aim of the label is to combine early musical influences such as Funk, Jazz, Latin, 90´s Hip Hop and Reggae with the most progressive techniques of electronic music production in order to create a new dynamic sound that pays respect to the diverse cultures it comes from. It is the soundtrack of the lives of artists that dedicate their time and energy to produce cutting-edge grooves for a conscious and openminded generation.
