The live drums hit hard and wild while the sound remains polished and solid, balancing the sensitive feel with an uncompromising air of self-confidence. Anolog frequencies drive the keyboard stylings towards an intentional simplicity, building melodies with much more feeling than complexity. Their general attitude is to ‘stay true to the recipe without checking the cookbook’.
BR&CP decided to invite some of their friends into the mix: Débruit and his talkbox get down on ‘Ange-Toussaint’ and Fulgeance & Kondor tweak their beach toys and deliver tasty remixes of two songs previously featured on the Musique Large 10-inch release, ‘Superman’. The mixtape floats and reverebrates in the shifting tide... while the melodies echo, blend and dive into the horizon, like the last rays of the setting sun.

Dimitri Nassios is no stranger to fans of the funk having released on the highly respected Freestyle Records as Q Orchestra and with Basement freaks as Smokey Bandits.

Under http://soundcloud.com/quasamodo he has teamed up with singer Thaliah to deliver some uplifting soulful beats. Can’t Hold Me Down is a gloriously sunny number. Shame it’s freezing but hey it’s summer somewhere.

Change is Strange also features Thaliah and is a more laid back and low slung groove.

The rest of the EP is funky beats delivered by a young master of the game. Son of Shaft has a familiar ring to it and Funkenstein is a pure heads down groover.

At Jalapeno we never forget where we’re coming from and when funky music like this come across the desk at Jalapeno Towers we are always on the case.

"Switchstance" is taken from the culture of boardsports, meaning the skill used to change the stance (easily) by switching one's foot position. The stance in freestyle Snowboarding or Skateboarding, is either riding in "regular" (left foot forward) or "goofy" (right foot forward) position. This identifies a really skilled rider and opens up a whole new world of trick combinations.

The label's creed and therefore the style of its producers and DJs is to have ultimate freedom, whether in their musical movements or in "switching" between various styles. The aim of the label is to combine early musical influences such as Funk, Jazz, Latin, 90´s Hip Hop and Reggae with the most progressive techniques of electronic music production in order to create a new dynamic sound that pays respect to the diverse cultures it comes from. It is the soundtrack of the lives of artists that dedicate their time and energy to produce cutting-edge grooves for a conscious and openminded generation.

Inspired by the label members' and friends' lifestyles in music, boardsports, arts and travels; the sound of Switchstance is always in motion and reflects a unique vision and attitude towards modern life.
