Many people simply want to hear and enjoy some great new music without having to waste time searching for hours. These Musical Discoveries collections aim to fulfil those needs. At least, we hope so! :)

This playlist is a compilation of the favourite musical discoveries of the Wud Records team from everything they heard at SoundCloud during May 2022.

Tracks have been arranged according to the number of plays at the precise moment of publishing, starting with the fewest. Tracks that are early in playlists tend to receive more plays than later tracks, and we feel that the ones with fewer plays need the best chance of exposure.

This playlist is extremely eclectic, so if the track you are playing isn't quite doing it for you, try the next one. It will probably be completely different.

If you enjoyed listening to something here, please give it a like and a repost. Follow the artist. Give them a shoutout on social media. Check out some of their other tracks. The background for the inspiration of course is Homer and the tales on the Trojan war. But Kassandra does not tell a story – it’s a kind of a painting with an ancient scenery or maybe just a sketch: Kassandra in front of the burning city. And it could be a modern painting. We are in a distance of more than 3.000 years to the plot of the ancient tales – and still mankind has Kassandras and tears in front of burning cities.

Working on Kassandra i had in mind from the beginning that Cindy will take the main voc in this song. So i wrote the harmonies and the song structure with that in mind and i love how she sings the song. Kassandra also includes a few notes played with a Greek Baglamas and helps the song to get a special note. This string instrument is the small sister of a Bouzouki.

Showcase: Vía de Acceso 12 @ Radio Ensayo (17.6.21)

It's a real pleasure for me to introduce this work, which has probably been the most interesting, complex and somehow challenging collaborative session I ever joined so far, at least in terms of rearrangement tasks.
It all started with an early version of a piece by The FURICO Music Team (@user-596493783) called "Mood Of Two" (https://soundcloud.com/user-596493783/double-beat-swing - feel free to take a look at the production notes as well, at https://furicomusicteam.blogspot.com/p/mood-of-two.html). We had been planning a collaboration for a while, so they sent me this groovy composition of theirs, both audio and midi files, allowing me the freedom to do whatever I wanted with them. 
On the one hand, I was intentioned to respect the original structure of the piece, and after listening to their own final version of it, released in late February 2021, I was literally blown out by all of the cool electro-psych features they'd added to the original tune, so my aim was delivering a rendition of that new vibe as well. On the other hand, I wanted to do it my own way, spicing it up with a typical Teth Sin flavour. 
First of all, I resampled the original drums tracks, trying to give them an acoustic feel. Then I replaced the bassline with my own, somehow developing it with a fair amount of variations; I overdubbed a couple of electric guitar tracks, and an electric piano part.
It was about time to add vocals as well, so I asked my friend Stonerjazz (@user-911083679) if he wanted to join in, remembering him being a big fan of The FURICO Music Team too. He enthusiastically accepted, as I'd expected, and a few days later he sent me a recording of him singing one of his amazing poems on the pre-existing, swingy backing track. He's recently released a ballad version of these lyrics (at https://soundcloud.com/user-911083679/beloved-sisters-of-the-storm), which is of course totally different and still very cool. 
I adapted his vocals stem on the sections where I wanted the singing to appear, and I finally added to most of the tracks a few weird, stuttering effects. This final sound design stage was crucial in order to deliver the kind of sound I was looking for. My aim was distilling a proper mixture of our combined styles, and I think my efforts paid off. Regardless of the aesthetic value of this work, it has been an extremely interesting experience for us, we all had fun and we're satisfied with it. 
I'd like to conclude by quoting Stonerjazz's first reaction when he listened to the final mix: "Well, Mick... What can I say about this elixir...?"

Written for a family whose child has a medical problem, and because they were poor were were wrongly accused of it being the mother's fault. They battled the courts for four years.  He recently passed on from brainstem neurodegenerative disease that he had when the nightmare began.  Mayo Clinic now has his brain for research as his condition was so rare.

The waters of Long Island Sound  were home and life to me
I'd fish on gentle buoyant swells rake oyster from the sea
clams I'd dig from the muddy shore    where kingfishers were angling
A seaweed coast on the Island of Shells   called Seawahakie.

And you can see the sun sparkle on the water
waters that give life to everything around
The marsh lands and bays are a heritage that nurtures
the deep quiet waters of the Long Island sound.

This arm of the Atlantic Ocean  glaciers dug 20 miles wide
The Quinipiac, Connecticut, and  Housatonic  flow into its tides
From the river called East to Orient Point;  110 as the seagull flies
For 5,000 years   cared for by the Delaware tribe.

Now the harbors are becoming    lifeless liquid poison
Our wastes breed bacteria    which suck up the oxygen
Toxics dumped by industry or plastic dropped by one person

First track of a new album where I'll try to be more eclectic, with closer approach to some genres. Experimented on this one over-editing vocal line on the left, and getting midi files out of organic guitar melodies, which I could play with virtual instruments. I hope you'll enjoy a different Ruizzoid shape.

Dedicated to Germán Coppini’s ‘Golpes Bajos’, one of my favorite groups of the Spanish ‘Nueva Ola’.

Moment One

A couple of months ago, Rodolfo Planes from Tierra del Fuego sent me a wonderful piece of music (in a different key and without lead guitar) that he hoped I’d write lyrics for… 
I was so excited that the first verse popped into my head almost straightaway, and with great patience and honesty, Rodolfo lead me through the learning curve that would be the gestation of this song.
The passionate music somehow stirred in me a sense of longing and belonging, combined with the enforced isolation from loved ones during lockdown. I think Rodolfo’s music helped me express this powerfully.
His solo still continues to move me even after countless listens. I am very grateful to him for this opportunity and I sincerely hope we can work on other projects.

Neither West, East, North, Nor South

Lliam Greguez is a macro ice photographer who captures freezing moments of a mountain stream and a creative arts therapist who, before C-19, used music to engage chronically ill children in five hospitals around New York City.

He also unlooses his experimental tendencies with five albums - a pair of Acoustic, a pair of Electric, and one Ambient. 

The acoustics are: Other People’s Children in English and La Yola in Spanish, the latter written by Dominican artist Luis Días. Each showcase uptempo acoustic music that could be labeled anti-pop with a unique essence accompanied by deliberative lyrics.

Then the two rock albums also contain one by Luis Días and one by the trio "Any of Several Weasels" reveling in the electric guitar sound. Luis' album is driven by Caribbean rhythms, while AoSW fuses punk and progressive.

Meanwhile, the "Look of Utter Disbelief" explores synth, sampling, and guitar improvisations.
