We are delighted to start our mix series and are super happy to do it with a close friend of A8: Konman. The set was recorded on the closing weekend of our last shop, Plastic Dreams, a two day stream where so many of you participated (find the full stream on our YT channel). We have been coming back to Konny’s downtempo trip regularly, as we love the flow and all the beautiful memories that it evokes. The entrance resident has supported us tremendously by selling parts of his collection & playing regular in-stores in our shop(s), thus we want to take the opportunity to say “thank you” and invite all of you to listen to his selection.

Mechanical actions might be seen as the reunion between force and time. With linear time out of the equation, force would stand alone, floating in her own field, her space for eternity. 

Now let's take a body, one single, rigid, solid, human body. With force acting alone like a steamroller, the body would be subjected to a great amount of distortions, its soul and memories transforming into a strange mixture dilated in cyclic never-ending times. Frightening isn’t it ? No beginning nor end, no order, no evolution, only the manifestations of surprise and creation. 

Reminds you a dream ? Well, think about the body. It's a nightmare now.

After lighting up the Swivel party on the Goose with an unforgettable closing b2b with Timor back in January this year, we’re very excited to welcome the ever-smiling talent that is Olive for the eighth instalment of our mixtape series.

Olive brings a sound that’s hard to pin down, in the best way. A seamless blend of stripped tech/progressive/breaks, always with an uplifting (often ethereal) touch, and dancefloor-driven energy that keeps things moving and the mind open.

The mix kicks off with luscious sun-infused chords followed by a personal fave from Spacer IV (recently repressed on Slush) and only builds from there… one for the explorative ear. Big love to Olive for putting this exquisite mix together, and for the nod to a favoured TV show for the mixtape quote :)

Max is becoming a key figure on the London underground circuit, co-running the party Small World which moves between various spaces around the city. This one’s a carefully put together selection - a low-slung trip, exploring techno (?) and beyond. Thoughtful, measured, and built with intent.

Chez has a style that is hard to put your finger on, as Rio 017 well demonstrates. Recorded on the opening night of Bonanza, Chez kicked the terrace into action with a chuggy but cheerful selection of swampy groovers. 

Moving seamlessly from heads down tech house to breaks and EBM-ish numbers, Rio 017 is peppered with flecks of acid, swaying basslines and plenty of character. 

One to keep the summer flowing xx
