Track composed specifically for the 2019 edition of the Radiophrenia festival in Glasgow, and aired on May 13th, 2019 (http://radiophrenia.scot/may-13th/).

Unlike contemporary media, radiophonic transmissions and their traditional mechanisms accommodate for mistakes and imperfection as part the regular experience. Things like misdialling, bad reception, crooked radio antennas, physical location of the listener... all played a part in the listening experience you are going to get.

This design flaw led to accidents; sometimes and often, happy accidents like discovering a cool unknown radio station or track. Other times, and luckily less often, these accidents were not so happy, and we'd stumble upon something that was not for us, something potentially dangerous, something hinting an alternate reality we had never considered... The resulting ominous feeling heavily contrasted with the safety and anonymity provided by radio listening itself.

This track aims to recreate the path down to a not so happy accident, in a world that has moved forward and eradicated that possibility.

Soma Laboratory Lyra-8 ambient exploration - (frozen train to nowhere)

This piece is part of a series of several solo instrumental pieces from the 1980s called RSRCH. In these pieces the Canadian composer and recorder player Peter Hannan focused on one specific aspect of new instrumental playing techniques. RSRCH 12/84 is written for a tenor recorder and completely dedicated to multiphonics, exploring their quality, strength, and fragility. In the beginning of the piece the multiphonics are introduced carefully. The main part plays with rapid virtuosic changes, from natural sounds to multiphonics and back again. This creates a polyphony on a monophonic instrument in such a fascinating way that it puts both audience and performer into a kind of trance. Thus, also the subtitle Dream.

We Are Eagle

I've been recording music in some form or other since 1990 and have involved myself in Leicester's thriving (and unusual) underground music scene since 1997. Chris Conway's monthly Quadelectronic events at Leicester's Quad Studios have opened more doors to new friends and new musical experiences, for which I want to express my gratitude.
I work in a variety of musical forms, both solo and with friends: notably the currently-reawakening Leicester band Muted Fnord with multi-instrumentalists David Dhonau, Ola Szmidt and Andrew "Johnny" Johnston; also with Chris Conway as Memory Wire, with Alto Stratus as Endgame and also percussionist julian Broadhurst, vocalist/musician Victoria Bourne and others. Both composed and improvised (often an intuitive combination of the two), my music spans a range from the conventionally melodic to the most abstract avant-garde soundscaping, with many possible crossover points inbetween. Whatever the form, I make music I'd like to hear.
In addition to the electronic soundscaping I also play cajón in Leicester-based psychedelic rockin' outfit Multimorph and ethnic fusion four-piece Jaipur School Orchestra.
