I have always wanted to make a rap metal track with Heartscore so I was super excited when he reached out with this banging hip-hop metal fusion production. The lyrics are inspired behind the Hawaiian legend of Nanaue the Shark Man. I have some Hawaiian blood in me, so I figured I would rock it, lol! I am super blessed to still be working on music with my friend Heartscore.

Get On The Bus! (HOLY DUMPLING #4) w/ Stonerjazz, Uziel, TexMex Shaman, Nadia Selvaggi

Influenced by the brilliant work (Dark Sitar) of The Pharmaceutical Phaggot, some Sitar in this track. Main stringed is mandolin. TPP refused to transact a ludicrous deal I proposed some weeks ago, by which I offered TPP,  in part exchange for his Sitar, a banjo playing rodent (so far as he knew). Following the collapse of what would have been a transaction to remember, I therefore had to make my own Sitar.... from commonly available household items (mostly stuff found in a drawer marked 'pieces of string too small for use'). Over the past few years, I’ve discovered several unique and delightful souls in our community; and the song I get to share today is my first collaboration with one of my favorite Soundcloud troubadours, Tanisha Jackland (Lady of Fire Poetry - https://soundcloud.com/ladyofire, https://ladyoffirepoetry.bandcamp.com/).

I messaged her a few months ago, hoping for a little inspirational pointer to one of her favorite open collab offerings. And to my great surprise and excitement, she offered to create something entirely new for the project. In addition, she introduced me to her muse for this particular piece, Emily Levine. Needless to say, Emily will be the subject for this write-up (so thanks, Tanisha… for that introduction; and for getting to create this song with you. I had a lot of fun with this one). :)

So who was Emily Levine? Emily started her career in 1977 as a stand-up comedian. But the world wasn’t ready to take female comedians seriously, so in 1980 she became a television writer and producer. Over the next decade, she worked on intelligent sitcoms, including ‘Designing Women’ and ‘Love and War’; and comedy pilots for CBS, NBC, ABC and HBO.

Despite an admirable career as a Screenwriter, Emily’s largest transformation came in the form of a tumor found on her pituitary gland. 

Before the diagnosis, she began experiencing a wide array of symptoms like extreme fatigue, brain fog, osteoarthritis, carpel tunnel, acromegaly (where your extremities grow abnormally large) and a lack of interest in the activities she enjoyed. 

Eventually, the tumor was discovered and successfully removed. But during her illness and recovery she began to explore more modern, scientific ideologies. This is where she had some of her greatest life epiphanies; my personal favorite being the realization that we need to evolve our thinking from Newton’s Universe to the Universe of Relativity, Chaos Theory and Quantum Physics. 

Here’s her basic formula. The Newtonian Universe is one of ‘either/or’; either this is true or that is true, but both can’t be true. If I’m right, you must be wrong. It’s very linear, black and white thinking; and it’s the hurdle that the human race can’t seem to get past.

But if you give Quantum Physics a spin, the formula becomes ‘and-and-and’ (notice the dashes rather than slashes). For example, light can be a wave and a particle, depending on how you look at it. I can be right, and you can be right, depending on how we look at it. That single idea transforms very rigid, absolute thinking (off/on, right/wrong) into something far my dynamic and probability based. It gives the human race the breathing room we need to help us solve our current polarizations; a beautiful opportunity for transforming the old paradigm into something that helps us evolve our thinking and move forward as a species.

Sick part in the middle was generated from a Fibonacci series, proving there is order in any chaotic system. Only a stupid would have played guitar on that mess… so I did.
