Soundtrack Loops introduces C64 8-Bit Adventure Loops & One-shots with drum & Kontakt kits.

Swedish coder and producer Linus Åkesson is one very serious circuit bender! Linus loves to share, and so here we have C64 8-Bit Adventure, a collection of loops, one-shots and more, all generated by a bespoke musical instrument that Linus has dubbed the Commodordion. An ‘accordion’ comprising of two C64 computers that bookend a real, functional bellows system constructed of an origami-like assembly of 5.25” paper floppy disc casings!

This instrument sets C64 8-Bit Adventure apart! The bellows is actually an electro-mechanical modulator that changes the sound as it’s being played. And so here, in a package containing 82 loops (distributed across 10 different theme kits), 168 delightful one shots, 9 Kontakt .nki files, and an Ableton Drum Rack, we have the sound of the Commodordion—a one-off, genius-grade, mad scientist-level instrument that captures the classic sounds of the Commodore 64 computer in all its 8-bit glory. Plus added organic modulations that go far beyond typical circuit bending exercises, and into some truly esoteric and fun places.

As standard practice for all loops created by the Soundtrack Loops team, key and BPM are tagged in both metadata and file names.

Frozen Cathedrals (Pt. 3)

Det tredje och sista kapitlet i trilogin tar musiken till en plats bortom hetta, bortom industriellt dån – rakt in i en isande tystnad där varje ton ekar som i en glaciärkatedral.

Här smälter black metal-riffens skoningslösa energi samman med jazzens fria improvisation, men tempot saktar in. Istället för bastuns febriga kaos och fabrikernas rytmiska hammarslag hör vi nu kalla borduner, sakrala klanger och disharmoniska kluster som spricker som is under foten.

Rhodes-pianot låter som frusna vattenfall, trummorna som avlägsna laviner, och gitarrerna skriker genom stormen som kyrkklockor i snödimma. Musiken rör sig mellan kontrollerad stillhet och plötsliga utbrott – som om katedralerna själva andas.

Det är en avslutande mässa, en musikalisk gravkammare som både hedrar kaoset från de tidigare albumen och sluter cirkeln med en ton av ödesmättad frid.
