DJ Sodeyama’s murky alias The People in Fog is up next for a very special number. The DJ/producer has been active since the 90s, reshaping his home city, extensively touring the globe, releasing music, founding record labels (Arpa) and toying with different incarnations of his palette under a few different names. The People In Fog is one such project, founded a decade ago as license to lean into his more disco and house inclinations, a means of connecting with a lighter penchant for Chicago-style and Balearic rhythms. It’s a manifestation that’s given the world several first-rate releases like debut album A Ray of Light (2013), Album: 1977 (2021) and this year’s Too Much Knobs and Cables. His whistle-stop promo tour of Japan for that latest release has been whipping up plenty of shifting grooves and phase distortions, and delivering that fresh take on sound to IRL crowds in his native land. For the rest of us, the nine-tracker’s a perfect source for summer anthems: a fuzzy, analog patchwork of synths and low-end bass. Bassiani Podcast 273 takes all of this and turns up the heat, The People In Fog’s deep reverence for underground sounds is here for a two-hour mash up of grimy percussions and sensuous urban sounds. and producer Benabou has immersed herself in the
eclectic world of techno. Drawing inspiration from
major labels like Token, Polegroup, Eaux, Semantica, Warp, and Northern Electronics, her productions are enriched with experimental resonances.

From a young age, Benabou developed a strong
affinity for the fluid sounds of jazz, soul, and
psychedelic music, which naturally led her to infuse
her tracks with ambience and ethereal synths,
creating a dark, hypnotic atmosphere.

Plasma Disco was the alias my friend Alfred (aka Timpleton) and I used when we played and made music together. We got the name from one of our favorite tracks, Samuli Kemppi – Plasma Disco. This mix includes some of our demos as Plasma Disco, as well as unreleased music from Alfred’s unreleased album - Geology That I found on a lost hard drive as well as music we played during our era and tracks that I found later on that I want to play for Alfred.

Always going the unsuspected route with no compass to guide us back onto the normative boulevard, Irakli takes us on a bumpy ride across jagged proto-technoid topographies, fractal-like foldings and mind-expanding new horizons of musical possibilities. The result is - as per the man’s high-flying standards, an ode to techno’s core values of innovation and fearlessness, developing the kind of pioneering mindset we miss so much these days. Electrifying.

Brace yourselves for a breakneck ride this month as our longtime friends and distributor Clone hijack RYC frequencies with a massive takeover for the whole month of October. Breaking this four-part installment in, Amsterdam’s Afra cuts in with two-hours of old-school Detroit electro vibrations, hi-velocity breaks and future-facing floor narratives beckoning us onto a whole distinct dimension entirely. All in finessed vortical dynamics and rapid-fire bass deluge, the Dutch DJ pulls out an absolute charge of a chiseled and finely-curated mix, locked-and-loaded on having ravers lose their mind to this effervescing fusion of frantic sci-fi-like atmosphere and proper nuclear propulsion. Buckle your belt.

Reclaim Your City 664 | Afra

This is my first ever Dubstep mix, built from some of my favourite tracks in the genre. It was a refreshing step outside of my usual comfort zone, and I really enjoyed exploring how the flow and timings work differently compared to what I’m used to.
