To our delight, African funk master Jagger Botchway has been busy in the studio, getting to work on a rare soca and highlife record with a number of musicians he collaborated with from various points of his career. Cultures of Soul have striven to find a host of relevant remixers to match up to Jagger's achivements. These names, already schooled in the colourful sounds of Afro-funk, feature Berlin's Africaine 808, Switzerland's Alma Negra, New York's Names You Can Trust and Manchester's Ruf Dug – whose "Tight Disco Dub" of "Moko Le Dzen" trumps the rest as our favourite. Heavily led by a percussive backbone, the rework takes us on an intercontinental journey of instruments, between African drumming patterns and a conventional Western drum kit. This is further invigorated by a reverb-rich trumpet line and a synth line peppered by chordal stabs throughout. A surefire way to ensure a workout on any dancefloor.

Poker Flat Recordings welcome Raha Medzhidov to the stable for this exceptional package. Monoplay is Raha’s new project, and the Russian producer follows up a run of great projects on labels such as ITech Sound System, Kommunity and Human Resourses with another key release. The result is 'Anymore' - five tracks of deep, techy house music. The title track is here in three versions – the original sees Monoplay find a dark, infectious groove via his signature interplay of percussive elements, echo drenched synths and superb vocals by Raha himself. 

The instrumental version is also included, alongside a killer remix by Manuel Tur. Even more stripped down, Tur’s reworking of 'Anymore' is a sleek and deadly weapon sure to cause damage on many dancefloors this year.

'I Was' is a little lighter in vibe yet just as effective - a slinky rhythm and a thick, warm bass accompany Raha’s distinctive vocals.

'I Was' as an instrumental version is available in selected stores.

For the debut release on my own new label IPSO with Kompakt Records, I wanted to try something different. The new label, IPSO is for me to invite a friend or a hero, - someone I admire musically to do a collaboration.
I’ve long been a fan of limiting myself in the studio. 
Sometimes working with less equipment brings out the best in you, so for the first release I figured it would be interesting to experiment with this. 
Inspired by the danish dogma films, I decided to make a rule. 
As I’m not one for overdoing things, the rule is very simple.
We are only allowed to use one instrument.
I reached out to my friend and all time hero Michael Mayer to do the first collab. 
Other than being co-founder of the mighty Kompakt records, and signing me in 2009, he is a genius in a dj Booth and a great producer. 
He has always been a great inspiration to me, so we agreed to start of my new Label with a bang. 
I set out the challenge, that Michael should choose the instrument. 
As I arrived in Cologne, Michael had chosen an old Yamaha Organ. Funny side note, is that it is actually Jörg Burgers organ. Jörg is actually quiet the legend himself, but that is another story. 
Michael and I spent 1 day in the studio, and we had a blast.

Having had a remarkable start to 2016 with self aclaimed ‘Illicit Behaviour’ EP, Hot Creations & Paradise pacesetter - Jamie Jones - serves up his latest instalment via the Emerald City imprint.

Leading track ‘Land Of The Giants’ flows into rich orchestral elements, followed up by prominent electronic wobbles before switching the pace - implementing a complex instrumental structure from the get go. Collaborating with Hero Twins (Timothy D Jones – brother to Jamie – and Tarhan Ozkan) for the release, they introduce faint, haunting vocals, paired with a low rolling and distorted bassline to create an underground masterpiece.

In contrast to the title release, ‘The Shoplifter’ focuses solely on the electronic layers weaving throughout the record. The stripped back instrumental resonates a thumping bassline in turn with reverberating bleeps and a murmuring female vocal hook. The breakdown lends its ear to fierce, punchy orchestral chords before signing things off with echoing percussion – transcending Jamie’s ‘Lands Of The Giants’ EP as one of his most experimental workings yet.

The ups and downs, the highs and lows, the peaks and troughs. Thrills existed everywhere, all around them. There was always more excitement to seek, more chaos to create, more drums to bang and more people to dance. The world kept on spinning, as did each track and they moved forwards together as one. 
We are very excited to be able to showcase the forthcoming JMII release from Spanish stalwarts Hivern Discs. His appearance follows on from releases on labels such as 100% Silk, Subwax and NVH. Listen to 'Thrills' from the forthcoming EP below which is due for release late this month.

With the 10th release of our colored vinyl series we bring you the Decade Dubs. Bristol based new artist El Choop opens the edition with pulsating chords and synths in his track Unknown Landscape. Italian producer Hydergine takes you on a psychedelic mind trip with his energetic deep techno track Blue State Of Mind.

The flip side starts with Etui Records label head Insect O. With his dirty chords and wired echoes he is telling you the mystic story about the Ancient Architects. And finally Monomood returns to the label and proves his musically diversity. A mellow brass and a deep bass will give you goosebumps while dancing on the afterhour or just sitting in a smokey jazz bar.

The artwork is done by graphic designer and musician Daniel Madlung aka Dandytracks. It´s based on a photo of the Sea of Sand at Indonesia´s Mt. Bromo volcano, taken by Insect O.

The next release on Manual Music sees Rotterdam’s Paul Hazendonk present his first solo release on his own label since his excellent, long-awaited debut album 'Adapt', two years ago. Paul has been the driving force behind Manual Music since its inception in 2005, and has established it as a crucial platform for exciting talent, focused on sonic innovation that is always fresh and original. So it is fitting that the label’s next exciting musical instalment features two creative masterpieces of the highest order from the main man himself.

‘Spheksophobia’ (literally meaning the persistent fear of wasps) features a restrained, teasing, percussive intro, that builds relentlessly via a diverse structure of layer upon layer of intricate sounds and dubbed out FX, as the track evolves into a fabulously engaging, deeply monstrous groove - the attention to detail is stunning, the end result is nothing short of spectacular.

‘Profound Shift Of Conceptual Awareness’ utilises a similar yet entirely different, diverse musical palette to create a brooding beast of a track in a slightly more energetic mould, that sparks with electric intensity and displays yet more of Paul’s trademark attention to detail. This is music you could listen to over and over and hear something new every time - the sure sign of a masterful producer at work.

The demanding, multi-tasking role of being a label boss, alongside a busy DJ schedule, often only leaves Paul Hazendonk with short bursts of creative studio time. His last solo outing ‘Tenant Setting’ appeared on Flow Vinyl in August 2015, and between then and now he’s been exploring new musical ideas via various, collaborative projects. Witnessing these stunning new solo works one can only hope he finds time to create more soon!

Having launched his DJ career over 15 years ago, it wasn't until a couple of years later that Paul released his first productions. Over that time he has steadily built an impressive catalogue of releases on numerous influential labels, including Hope, Einmusika, BluFin, Kittball, Sudbeat, Plattenbank, Lowbit, Diynamic, and numerous others, alongside releases on his own Manual Music imprint. Systematic Recordings' Lost Treasures series returns with its seventh instalment, uncovering and refreshing yet another House Classic from the vaults of time.
The Ltd 10” series, launched by label boss Marc Romboy, sees him hunting the soundtracks to many of his personal party memories. With the originals being fully remastered, each is also accompanied by new, and most importantly respectful, remixes from some of today’s finest producers.
Terence Parker's 'Love's Got Me High', Urban Soul's 'Alright' and Mike Dunn meets Victor Simonelli & Luis Radio's 'Nothing Stays The Same' have all previously featured, and Simonelli makes a return for 10" number seven with a 1993 collab with Z.A.M.
Originally released on Playtime Records, the trickling stream, powerful vocal and emotive piano line of 'Africa Freedom' stirred and lifted the dancefloors of the world. At a time when the great Nelson Mandela was winning his run for Presidency of South Africa, the track perfectly encapsulated the surge of global positivity.
Accompanying the original Johannesburg Dub, Acapella and Beats is our 2016 remix from Argy. Big, bold andurgent, his rework is a perfect big room alternative to the sweet summer vibes of the original.

Sven Väth's playful 1986 record has gotten a dance-floor-ready makeover from Flügel, driven by a relentless kick liable to give even the most hardened of Berghain’s dancers cardiac arrest and a rolling bass line that you can’t help but get a bit weird to. 

Throw Roman’s characteristically glitchy synths and spacey keys into the mix and this one is a proper intergalactic journey into whatever stratosphere it is that this man occupies. Check it out below.
