Secret Society Sessions is a show broadcasted every Wednesday 6-9pm live from Girth Radio. The studio is conveniently nestled inside an aesthetic bar just one block east of St. Lawrence Market, Pacific Junction Hotel (234 King Street East).

This is more than a radio show… it is a social experiment for people at play. We invite you for after work drinks, food and games – Pacific Junction Hotel features many amenities including Locally Brewed Beer, an Outdoor Patio, Table Tennis, Pool, Foosball, Arcade Classics and the only real Ice Hockey table in the city!

Our goal is to provide the atmosphere for a regular gathering that revolves around our love for music and the celebration of getting over the hump of the week. Come early, spend a few hours with your friends listening to artistically curated sounds and go home happy, proving that a night out does not necessarily have to be followed by a day in.

Over the past decade, Jeff Button has righteously become a staple among Toronto’s underground music community. After moving to Toronto in 2003, Button found his way into the industry as a promoter at Toronto’s former Boa Redux after hours. Within a few years, he began his DJ career, holding residencies at many of the city’s influential venues including Mod Club, The Docks & Footwork to name a few.

With a sound that’s truly bound by no genres, Button’s mixes religiously bring dance floors to life. His productions have found their way onto labels such as Seaking, LoveStyle Records and Altus Project, while his skills behind the decks have landed him bookings at Corona Sunsets, The BPM Festival, SXMusic Festival, Time Festival and Toronto’s acclaimed Electric Island Picnic & Concert series

Secret Society Sessions (SSS) is a weekly showcase that began in 2015 with the focus of putting Toronto locals in the spotlight. After a year of having both the lesser known and more established artists perform at the Radio Show / Social Collective, a compelling arsenal of musicians, producers and DJs were assembled.
SSS - The First Year is an LP featuring 11 tracks by the artists that have performed at this showcase. Similar in style, but unique in production, these songs paint an intriguing picture of the diversity within Toronto and the quality of the music that is being created there. The electronic music scene is flourishing in the city and this compilation has been manifested to spur international recognition of the talent within.

While it will be released digitally worldwide, physical CDs are also available for sale at Secret Society’s weekly event. $11 of the $20 sale price of this CD will be distributed amongst the 11 featured artists; which is a significant portion of the revenue and on average, ten times more than what most record labels would compensate. Secret Society and Scardinius Recordings invites the local community to support the scene and the artists that invest both their time and resources into producing music. By purchasing this LP online or offline, the supporters not only become the proud owner of a historic piece of the Toronto music scene, but are directly funding the artists and the promotional cost of endorsing this compilation worldwide.

The album took shape in Los Angeles, where he and longtime cohort Noah Georgeson produced the album together, playing most of the instruments themselves, using borrowed equipment and a recorder they’d found in a pawn shop.

Devendra Banhart: "Für Hildegard Von Bingen"

Tyson Lambert and Jeff Button met as 6 year olds who lived around the block from one another growing up in the small town of Dundas, Ontario. It was evident was an early age that music would be an integral part of their lives. Hip-hop would be their biggest musical influence while attending high school in the 90’s with artists like A Tribe Called Quest, Gang Starr, DJ Shadow, & Wu-Tang playing a huge part. 

Shift ahead to the year 2000, Tyson moved to London, Ontario which introduced him to the underground house music scene. He bought turntables, and began playing gigs shortly after. They both eventually found themselves living in Toronto, where both would make names for themselves as Producers and DJs. Tyson built an impressive discography as a solo artist while Button held down residencies at The Docks, Mod Club, Footwork, Electric Island, CODA and played The BPM Festival in Mexico five consecutive years. 

It wasn’t until 2014 that the duo began writing music together in the studio. They released “Get Up In It”, a deep house EP with the familiar hip-hop vibes from their childhood sampling the great 2pac and Talib Kweli. The DC followed that up with a release on the Australian label Altus Project. In 2016, they released “Airwaves” on Scardinius Recordings, becoming the top selling artists on that label to date. Look forward to more gritty original work from these two as they continue to break ground as artists under The Dundas Collective (The DC) moniker.
