ELECTRYPNOSE @ The Hive | MoDem Festival 2024

This isn’t a tale of triumphant success. Growing up overshadowed by his older brother’s gang, Andris (aka Wegha) found escape in machines and sound. From remixing Queen tracks in 1994 to discovering goatrance at a Kenguru party in 1996, he dove headfirst into vinyl and the rising psytrance scene in Hungary. While DJs like Oleg, Jirzsij, and Virág were shaping the genre with humility and craft, Wegha’s flashy, self-indulgent style still earned him spots on lineups — including the legendary Halásztelek Party in 1998, where he lingered for a decade.

He co-hosted the Deep Smile Sunday sessions with DJ Virág and launched Turbopauza, a promising live act that never reached its full potential. By 2007, he was running Szociál Klub, booking international psy acts and keeping his name alive in Budapest nightlife — until his exclusion from Ozora 2008 felt like a collective sigh of relief. But fate intervened when he replaced a sick Simon Posford last-minute. Despite brief silence, he resurfaced in 2010, hijacking Thursdays and reappearing at parties and festivals with unshakable persistence.

Though many hoped for peace in the psytrance galaxy, Wegha — the scene’s Anakin Skywalker — proved impossible to ignore, eventually landing at the top of an international festival roster. Sometimes, this is just how things go.

Sangoma features LEMURIANS in this episode. This live set contains a blend of music from the present and past, played by Lemurians at the Ozora Festival Main Stage in 2024. LEMURIANS is the project of Janosch Riemann founded in the late 90s together with Andreas Kuchenbauer. The two nighttime-oriented full-length albums “Crystal Mind” and “Secret Message” made quite an impact on the global Psytrance scene. With another 50+ releases on numerous record labels between 1999 and 2004, Andy and Janosch parted ways. Andy moved to Norway and Janosch started to focus more on traditional songwriting never turning his back on music production though. The pulse of Psytrance never left JanOshs veins and after 15 years of not producing electronic music, JanOsh decided to go back to electronica and start over with fresh energy. In early 2019 Janosch started to make his way back into producing faster, dancefloor-oriented music. With releases on numerous labels and now signed to Sangoma Records, alonside playing major festivals like Ozora and Ethereal Decibel Janosch continues leaving an imprint on the psychedelic dancefloors of the world and is planning to keep on producing cutting-edge psychedelic music in the future.

  It is beyond the states of waking, dreaming and dreamless sleep. Those who have witnessed it as an external phenomenon report that the experience appeared to have fallen into a kind of trance. The hair on the head and body stood erect. The half-closed eyes became fixed. Sometimes there was an astonishing loss of weight, or even levitation of the body from the ground. But these are mere symptoms, and tell us nothing. There is only one way to find out what samadhi is like:
