* This music is inspired by one of the most exceptional, idyllic and peaceful places; as close to Paradise as I can imagine.

* Rhinoceroses, elephants, tigers, monkeys, peacocks and the indigenous Tharu people shared this place, which is now a UNESCO

World Heritage protected National Park in Nepal. The Tharu people were deeply connected to land and animals, but were expelled

from the park area and now live scattered around it. Their pride was and is being the elephant people.

* Music: Beauty, peacefulness and serenity of wildlife, forest, and indigenous people is the matrix. Chitwan National Park is a place that gives hope.

* Tension in harmony and rhythm represent the pressures pushing in: political, changes in demographics, loss of local indigenous language, green colonialism by foreign tourists, recently introduced consumerism and ecological changes induced by climate change.

* The tempo of the Introduction (bars 1–11) is on-site measured elephant walking pace (at 58 BPM) and needs to be very steady,

without vibrato, except in the violas (please keep it light).

* The marked positions for Violin 1 & 2 represent being torn between paradise/heaven (upper positions) and pressures/earth (1st position) and are part of the piece.
