The sound of this set I am beginning to play under Alias - Muska Jen - 

The name was inspired by Chia Jen, an artist in Melbourne who is responsible for the decor and painting/artwork of all my stages, as when we are on festival sites working, she selects tracks very much of the kind in the first 1.5 hours of this mix and has inspired me very much over all the years of working with her.

For the latter half, it is primarily from my record collection I never get the chance to play.

For this mix, I wanted to break it up so it was pleasurable, deep and moody, a bit weird at times, hypnotic but then send it home with a little more dancefloor-friendly music. ;  

I am booked at peak time so often that my deeper sound rarely gets explored. This compilation of music is all tracks that I either have had on vinyl for many years, favourites I listen to at home or tracks I like that are a bit too leftfield to play in my regular sets. 

I also wanted to stay away from my original style of fast pace layering and FX trick style mixing. 
This set honours a more traditional style like when I was playing on turntables and old mixers where essentially EQ and Volume fades where all you had. This was important to me to really capture the essence of these age old tracks that are long, hypnotic and minimal. 

This is much more aligned with music and artists I have a deeper sounding connection with. 

This is an unplanned DJ set mixed live with some minor edits later with an additional three tracks added in ableton at the end to show off some original productions in the closing minutes and make the mix come together on time.

THIS BLAST-FROM-THE-PAST: Psycho Thrill Cologne founder Claus Bachor burnin' up the Psycho Thrill Cologne decks seriously - alongside his DeeJay mates ROLAND CASPER, JERRY THE CAT (Soiree Rec. Int./ Sound Signature DET) and STEPHAN HENSE that nite - with another sinister 2005 club-tour set at the Psycho Thrill/ SENSOR CLUB residency back in those days. 

The mix itself ranges from real Chicago House and Detroit Techno plus RAVE CLUB Cologne Classics like Willie Wonka or Dancer to later, contemporary Techno stuff at that time by DJ Pierre, St.Andy, Red Light 7, DJ ESP, Morgan Page, St. Plomb feat. All three of my housemates went away a couple of weeks ago, leaving me all alone on the mountain. At first, I felt a little daunted by the concept of being totally by myself, but within a couple of days, I found that the drive to create and put in place plans grew immense. I started and finished a lot of very exciting new musical ideas and discovered and explored a whole manner of new processes and techniques. I also managed to instil a very calming routine upon my life when I was done working, which revolved mostly around going for walks and cooking. I tried a few days of silence, where I forgot the sound of my own voice and a day of chattering non stop about whatever would choose to come out of my mouth. My point is, I guess, to try not to feel afraid of time alone. You can learn a lot from yourself if you just give yourself a chance.

TÂCHES - #3 APRIL MIX

Two mixes recorded on the Robot Heart sound system at the Burning Man festival. Thursday night 2am is a prime time collage of tracks tailor made for the desert. The last track in this mix “Love Is In The Air” was not actually a part of this live set, but edited onto the mix by popular demand. The sunrise set is from after the burn on Sunday morning. Yes, that one ALSO ends with Love Is In The Air, simply because that is when it was actually played. Excuse the redundancy. -The Scumfrog

​Looking back to 2014 ​when we first learned ​that we​ ​had ​confirmed DJ T. ​to ​headline​ our Desert Hearts Spring Festival,​ we had no idea that cold weekend would be one of the most pivotal moments ​in the early chapters of the Desert Hearts tail. 

At the time the family was still growing and together we were rocked by some of mother natures harshest elements, throughout the weekend, both rain and snow graced the grounds of Apple Valley and lead to a memory we will never forget, which was later dubbed as the infamous Snowy Hearts. 

​Flash forward five years, we knew we had to invite T. back into our new home at Los Coyotes and show him how this family has blossomed into the beautiful collective we all know and love today. 

T. wholeheartedly stands behind our mantra of spreading as much love as humanly possible and we couldn’t have been happier to have had him take the reigns on Sunday afternoon of the festival. With so much history from the mid ‘80s as one of the ​forefronts to Sven Vath’s legendary Omen club in Frankfurt, a creative behind Groove Magazine, and label-head of Get Physical​, it’s truly an honor to have a mogal like Thomas be considered an integral piece in our family.

Shirtless and shoeless, TÂCHES sits cross-legged in the dirt gently taking in his mountain surroundings. It’s clear that he’s deep in thought as he mindfully traces the shape of a fallen leaf in his hand and a slight smile gently spreads across his face. There’s a tangible feeling of love and fascination communicated through the way he looks at the world around him and it’s precisely this holistic approach to creativity that makes him such a captivating artist. This is the makeup of a being that finds passion and inspiration anywhere he looks. 

Contradictorily, he is as much a devotee to tradition as he is a breaker of rules. TÂCHES is uninterested in following trends, and instead seeks to provoke the senses through a deeply personal examination of culture and cliche. Conceptual without ever being pretentious, his music shows a deep rooted appreciation for the textures of the times passed and faraway places. There’s a certain urgency to capture the world as he perceives it; albeit a world seen through the rose tinted lenses of a creature forever romantically entangled with his surroundings.

There’s no one way to sum up TÂCHES’s music, as it’s perpetually in growth, bending and swaying like a tree in the wind. This sonic metamorphosis is due to a primal need to experiment coupled with a deep longing to express the continually transforming experience of being human. Drawing heavily from emotion and memory, there’s a clear sense of nostalgia in all that he creates. His pure and unabashed desire to combine the things that he loves manifests itself as rich and evocative music with massive personality and palpable global flavours. 

TÂCHES’s desire to build upon the world in which his music exists led to the creation of his label GLITTER COWBOY - the peculiar home for the sonic documentation of his journey. When you listen to GLITTER COWBOY, you are nakedly experiencing life through the eyes of TÂCHES as he seeks to embody self-awareness and optimism, along with finding inner peace through nature, artistic expression and simplicity of living.
