Probably the best (psychedelic) synth and the most inspiring lyrics dedicated to woman in Romania during the 80s. The original song (Electrecord, 1985) also preserves the theme of a traditional dance, this time from the Transylvania area, The Walk of the girls from Căpâlna. The title Coloana Infinită/The Infinity Column is the name of an impressive sculpture part of the trilogy Sculptural Ensemble from Târgu Jiu by the Romanian artist Constantin Brancuși and in this song it becomes an ode to women. This remix in an 80ish electric boogie funk style fits perfectly.

Grupul Stereo - Coloana Infinita (Iorga Remix)

The 3rd track on Romanian Remixes #5 LP is an ultrafunkula break remix for Sincron with Hăulita De La Gorj (Electrecord, 1966), the first true boy band from Romania with the leading vocal Cornel Fugaru. A true gem which preserves the theme of a traditional dance with the same name from the Oltenia area and which had to wait until 2024 to be found on 7' vinyl', sampled and proper remixed.

About Ce Bine Că Ești the autor himself Nicu Alifantis says (I quote him) “it was composed in 1978, the lyrics belongs to Nichita Stănescu and it was one of the musical tracks of the soundtrack for Prayer For A DJ, a show staged at the National Theater in Galați.
The first edition would take place only 10 years after its birth, in 1988 on the album Piața Romană nr. 9.
In 1996 it appeared in a new orchestration on the album called Nichita, the second album recorded with Zan” and this is the version from which I sampled for this remix.

Nicu Alifantis - Ce bine ca esti (Iorga Remix)

Valuri Albe was released in 1972 at Electrecord alongside with Orchestra Electrecord as a cover for the song Yellow River by the British band Christie.
It now benefits a powerful rhythm for a nowadays update.

Original track Bună Seara is a cover of Buona Sera by German artists Saragossa Band. What a pity, the original song was released in 1986 exclusively on cassette tape. Although the album called Pentru Tine (For You) exists on 12’’ vinyl, it does not contain this song. This remix is the the 2nd version as a disco funk upgrade to the previous version from 2019. 

Trio Expres - Buna Seara 2025 (Iorga Extended Remix)

The most representative Romanian folk piece, Ciuleandra, is a folk song from Gorj area. It was released by Maria Tănase in 1937. Originally the song starts slowly (85 bpm) in Horă rhythm and ends in Sârbă rhythm (very fast, 240 bpm in the nowadays language of dijs and producers :) Long story short, Ciuleandra ends 3 times faster than it starts, booooooom!

Therefore, my work is divided into approximately 3 equal parts. The introduction is at a linear tempo as a warm up for the next two parts. The second part is marked by rhythm breaks that announce the beginning of the crescendo. The warm up being done, we move on to the third part where there is no longer a break and the tempo increases to the maximum limit as in the original work. Control your breathing carefully because in the end you will be sprinting as in the Olympic 100 meters.

IORGA cu M.T. & E.C.O. - Ciuleandra 2025

La Sovata is one of the classics of Romanian electronic dance music. It was released around 1997, although the project Cindy Cat was no longer active at that time.

Simple lyrics, nothing sophisticated, but with a very well placed sound with breakbeat and techno elements, pretty club like which easy caught the attention of the general audience, not only the young and just emerged electronic music audience. Even our parents remember with joy the lyrics “at Sovata where Nicu is doing his military service”.

No electronic music labels were in the 90s in Romania, La Sovata was brought to public by a television post which had the coolest interactive live tv show with artists and public, Generatia Pro, which also is the name of the only compilation (on cassette tape) which features La Sovata.

We have here the 1st remix in almost 30 years since the original track was released. New sound with a punchy kick, synth bass, house percussion, but keeping the entire voice and sampling the synth chords of the original, a true gem of post-Decembrist electronic music history in Romania.
