With "Daily Battles," US-American musician Marla Hansen, who lives in Berlin, kicks off her new cover project "Laugh Into the Leaves", a fully acoustic EP that places voice and strings at the forefront. Hansen interprets Thom Yorke’s song – originally released in 2019 as part of the soundtrack for Motherless Brooklyn – as a quiet, intimate meditation on the pressure to adapt in everyday life.

Hi people,

This remix was wondering in my mind for some time. I finally had time to sit down and try to write something that would resamble a piece of music. Trying to get Mansons vocals right, was a piece of work (of course they are AI generated, If You couldn't tell, skip the rest of the text and get Your shit together). Some slices here and there, reverb and eq did  some good but You can't eat a cake and have it too, so the good news are I have a remix with Mansons vocals for a little price of  2 dollars, and the bad news are they sound muffeled and I don't have any money left.

PREMIERE: Radiohead — Fade Out (Vince Destrukt Bootleg Remix)

2016 - The song portrays people moving through life like shadows, present in body but dimmed in spirit. Their thoughts, steps, and identities feel fragmented, as if they are fading before they fully form. They long to be seen before they disappear completely, struggling against a world that barely notices them. Their voices crumble in the air, hinting at a deep isolation and quiet despair. In the end, they remain as faint, almost invisible beings, slowly dissolving into the dim.

The line “I feel nothing” marks an emotional breaking point where numbness becomes a form of protection. Silence is not emptiness but a space in which a fragile new self takes shape. Everything said has already been said! But…

Coronardefekt is an electronic music project from Halle (Saale), Germany, that has been developing the connection between sound, technology, and emotion since the early 1990s.

My journey began in 1992, when a fascination with electronic sound generation and synthesizers laid the foundation for everything that followed. Influenced by Depeche Mode, Front 242, Delerium, Front Line Assembly, Dead Can Dance, and many others, I began creating my own sonic worlds – dark, driving, and emotional.

My music moves freely between Electro, House, EBM, Hip-Hop, and experimental sound structures – everything that inspires, excites, and moves me. I produce with a variety of synthesizers and analog sound sources – including the Yamaha MOXF6, Microkorg-S, Deepmind 12, Arturia Microbrute, Yamaha DX7, and Behringer TD-3-BU – with Ableton Live as the creative hub.

Each track is created with a focus on atmosphere, texture, and emotion – an expression of my personal sound journey. So far, all releases have remained private, but the essence lies in the creative process itself: sound research, sound design, and the pure joy of electronic music.

I don’t see myself as a product, but as an ongoing experiment – a project that grows, transforms, and continually redefines itself.

Karaoke Kalk is a record label founded in 1997 in Cologne. The name comes from the „Köln-Kalk“ district where the label started out. Over the past 25 years the label has amounted a superb catalog totaling well over 120 releases by a dazzling array of artists spanning the broadest possible spectrum of musical output.

Some of the most notable musicians to have released on Kalk include Scottish post-jazz pianist Bill Wells, To Rococo Rot bassist Mapstation aka Stefan Schneider, Static aka classically trained drummer Hanno Leichtmann, tireless musical activist Guido Möbius and the meister of prepared-piano Hauschka. Of all the acts to appear on KK, the later has undoubtedly reached the widest audience, with continued success and international acclaim, it was Kalk that first brought Hauschka's unique style to the world. While between them Bill Wells and Stefan Schneider have worked with everyone from Aidan Moffat and Barbara Morgenstern to Mahar Shalal Hash Baz and Hans-Joachim Roedelius. Other well established acts that have released on Kalk include the electronic pop duo Donna Regina and the English post-jazz ensemble Dakota Suite.
Of course, besides all these well known names Karaoke Kalk is very much about supporting new talent and bringing to light fantastic new artists who might not otherwise get a break. And so the label is proud to support young artists which recent releases by the likes of Emanuele Errante, Toulouse Low Trax, Roman and J.R.Plankton goes to show.

In 2004 the label relocated from Cologne to Berlin where label head Thorsten Lütz aka DJ Strobocop is extremely active with residencies and regular appearances at some of the best clubs around town. The label is now firmly established as one of the finest the „Musical Capital“ of Europe has to offer. A year later, Karaoke Kalk spawned the Kalk Pets sublabel again proving the Kalk's ongoing support of the clubscene with a focus on remix 12“s. So far the sublabel has released over 20 vinyl Eps with contributions from the likes of DeWalta, Paul Frick (from Brandt, Brauer, Frick), Daniel Meteo, Atom TM and Chica Paula. Kalk Pets proves the labels undying love for the vinyl format and affinity with traditional djing and ever changing club landscape. Since 2006 the label has had its own publisher too - Karaoke Kalk Musikverlag – empowering its artists to retain control of their rights. 

Karaoke Kalk release wonderful electronic and indie sounds beyond the cliches: label boss Thorsten Lütz likes to sit on the fence, creating his own niche for music beyond all the fleeting trends and typical media categorizations. It is one of the few genuinely eclectic labels out there, covering an astonishingly wide range of genres encompassing everything from ambient and indie to electronic, experimental and singer-songwriter. It's one of the true joys of Karaoke Kalk that one just never knows that the label is going to release next: it could go in any direction. The fact is no matter what style of music the label selects, its always of the highest standard and never fails to surprise and delight with each new release.
