12 Days of Faith Filled Healing

Merry Christmas Friends! I hope you’re warm and cozy while you’re listening today! I’m wearing my fuzzy slippers and a cozy turtleneck sweater, and my fireplace is on. I’m thinking about you!  Christmas can be wonderful and magical but also painful and challenging. The holidays are when we get out of our usual routines of life, and we have special traditions and expectations of what our holidays will be like, and divorce changes everything! 
I love Christmas, but I know Christmas can be challenging, especially if you’re dealing with extra trials and challenges this year…and who isn't? We’re all dealing with some personal trials and struggles of some kind- this is LIFE! 

This year you may be sharing your time with your children, or not attending events or celebrations that you have in the past with your ex’s family or you may be alone more often this Christmas and this can bring up a lot of emotions …like loss, emptiness and overwhelm that you may be managing daily, but seems to be magnified during the holidays. If 2024 felt like a roller coaster, you’re not alone- but guess what? I’ve got a good feeling about this year! 2025 is going to be an amazing year! It’s your year to shine!    

I want 2025 to be your best year yet. That’s why I will bring you the best teachings on healing, deepening your faith, transforming your life, and creating your dream life this year. I want to start this year with a Reflection & Renewal. Let’s take a few moments to reflect on the past year, uncovering lessons, celebrate your wins, evaluate your losses from a non-judgemental, loving place, and set the stage for your best year yet! 

And where better to start than with an annual review? Why should you do a yearly review? Two reasons: To establish where you are now AND To make a focused plan for the coming year. Essentially, you are trying to answer the question: What can you learn from last year to decide what to do next year?   

A yearly review also gives you a moment to reflect on all the progress you’ve made. When your life gets turned upside down by divorce, it can be hard to see your progress, know what you want, or know what to do next! This is where reviewing the last year, looking for your wins as well, and gleaning all you can from your experiences is so beneficial. I will share three simple steps for completing your Reflection & Renewal—this is essential for reviewing last year and planning for the year ahead. So, let's get started!

154. Reflection & Renewal

Hey there, JOY SEEKER! Welcome back for more Jenn Juice. I'm Jenn Zingmark, your LDS life and divorce coach, here to help you navigate the challenges of divorce with faith, grace, and resilience. Today, we’re tackling an important topic—how to build a good relationship with your stepfamily. Whether you’re navigating this as a new stepparent, a stepchild, or even a biological parent helping to merge two families, it can be an emotional and complex journey.
Recently, I had a conversation with a young adult named Anthony, who is preparing for a big transition when his father gets remarried—gaining a stepmother and step-siblings. His situation is unique, just like every stepfamily dynamic is, but the principles of building a strong and positive relationship remain the same. IIf you’re in a similar situation or know someone who is, I want to share some key takeaways from my conversation with Anthony that can help you approach a new family dynamic with empathy, patience, and clarity.

If you’re stepping into a blended family dynamic, just know this—you are not alone in this experience. Every stepfamily has challenges, but with patience, understanding, and a willingness to take things one step at a time, strong and meaningful relationships can develop.

So, if you’re feeling unsure about your role, take a deep breath and remind yourself that this is a journey. Relationships are built over time through small moments of trust, kindness, and shared experiences.

To Anthony—and anyone else navigating this process—I want to say: Give yourself and your stepfamily grace. It won’t always be easy, but with a little effort and a lot of patience, you can build a stepfamily dynamic that feels like home. Thanks for tuning in today!
