“The Conjured City Blues” is a soulful fusion of ancient Buddhist wisdom and the raw emotional power of the Blues. Inspired by Chapter Seven of the Lotus Sutra, the song journeys through the vastness of suffering, perseverance, and hope expressed by the Brahma Kings’ universal vow for enlightenment. With a slow, haunting melody rooted in minor blues traditions, it captures the timeless struggle of beings trapped in the “prison of the triple world” and their shared aspiration for liberation. This folk-blues anthem channels the spiritual quest as a long, arduous road filled with illusions and obstacles, yet illuminated by the unwavering light of compassion and awakening. A heartfelt call to all who seek solace and strength, “The Conjured City Blues” is both a lament and a vow — a musical meditation on suffering, resilience, and the transformative power of faith.

(Verse 1) I’ve been walkin’ through the prison, The triple world’s heavy chains, Long ages lost in shadow, Where the suffering remains.

The heavens cry, the Brahma Kings sigh, They pray the Dharma wheel to spin, Turn that light to break the night, Let the healing song begin.

(Chorus) Oh, the road is long, the journey slow, Five hundred yojanas down below, Through phantom cities made of dreams, We’re chasin’ truths behind the seams.

(Verse 2) Great-Universal-Wisdom sat so still, Ten aeons passed ‘fore light could fill, Conquered Mara, fought the fight, But the dawn came slow that night.

We stumble through illusions deep, Earthly desires that haunt our sleep, Yet in the darkest, there’s a vow, To raise us up and show us how.

The Moon Blues

A blues in bloom.
This version traces the quiet rising of the moon — not full yet, but growing, gathering light, like a secret becoming visible.

Gentler still, with an almost weightless touch, the song drifts upward through phases of longing and slow illumination. There's a sense of becoming — not quite sorrow, not yet revelation — just motion, breath, and silver on skin.

A sound for those who feel the moon before they see it.

Joyful Display Blues

Joyful Display Blues is a slow-burning, midnight-porch blues-folk song that turns ancient Lotus Sūtra insight into raw, human sound. Finger-picked guitar and a low harmonica drone carry lyrics about bodhisattvas rising from the earth, the Buddha’s cosmic display of light, and the vow to transform anger, isolation, and attachment into courage, compassion, and wisdom. Lantern-warm tones and indigo sky textures give the music a mystical yet earthy feel. It’s a celebration of everyday alchemy—turning poison into medicine—and of the unstoppable joy that keeps us singing through dark nights.

The Fearless Vow Blues is a folk-blues retelling of Chapter 13 of the Lotus Sūtra, where Medicine King and countless Bodhisattvas step forward to promise the Buddha they will spread the Dharma fearlessly, even in an age of corruption and hostility. With acoustic guitar, harmonica, and gospel-tinged rhythms, the song walks through the vow, the prophecy of persecution, the Buddha’s rejection of superficial promises, and the dramatic emergence of the Bodhisattvas of the Earth.

This track blends gritty blues storytelling with timeless spiritual truth — carrying the vow of “not sparing body or life” into a modern voice. It’s a song about courage, rejection, deep roots, and the kind of faith that shines brightest when the world turns dark.

The Bodhisattvas of the Earth, trained in ages long before,

The ones ordained to finish, for all living beings’ sake.

Keith better known by his stage name Phantom Electric Ghost or alter ego Josephine Electric, is a dedicated electronic musician and producer, hailing from Concord, New Hampshire.  Phantom Electric ghost is a one-person band that has been his vehicle for expressing sounds and concepts that Jones calls Expansive Sound Experiments or sound paintings.  Jones is a cancer survivor who overcame a level 3 Sarcoma in 1997.   

2019, PEG released on his indie label Expansive Sound Experiments “The Flower That Blooms at Midnight in the Tomb” and synthwave and experimental album created almost entirely on the Teenage Engineering OP-Z multimedia synthesizer and sequencer. 


Phantom Electric Ghost has collaborated with artists such as Chernobello.com (for the cover of the album II Infinitum in 2017) and ALT+CTRL+K (Kiri Margaros) on the same project.  Deeply influenced by progressive rockers such as Emerson Lake and Palmer, Genesis, and YES; PEG is also rooted in New Romantic (New Wave), Jazz(Sun Ra), and Funk (Prince, Parliament Funkadelic, and Sly and Family Stone).  This diverse mix of genres is what makes up Expansive Sound and what make Phantom Electric Ghost a unique musical endeavor.
