This is my entry for July's Decoded Magazine Mix of the Month competition.

A 1-hour set of progressive and melodic breaks containing a mixture of old and new tracks with, hopefully, a few surprises. My aim was to take the listener on a journey beginning with dramatic, bass-driven sounds and ending on a more melodic, euphoric note.

I'm just a small-town Canadian boy who loves music.

I started listening to electronic back in 2000 after my brother lent me some CDs for the summer from Sasha & Digweed, Moby, and Orbital. I got into the dance scene shortly after and found a strong connection to trance with DJs like Armin van Buuren, Paul van Dyk, and Ferry Corsten, while making some incredible friendships along the way. 

My first attempts at any kind of mixing were late-night vinyl sessions with my roommate listening to some classic trance and house and eventually putting together a simple set-up on my Mac to make some mixes for my commute. I’ve always liked the idea of being able to create a sort of soundtrack to my day-to-day and admire my friends who’ve made a career out of it as they bring such a positive impact to the lives of so many. 

I’ve spent the better part of my adult life abroad - first in China and now in Italy - and music has always been something that keeps me grounded and focused.

Alex Cox aka Obsessional Rhythm has established himself as a respected DJ and signed music producer under the artist name “Obsessional Rhythm. Alex is from Gloucestershire, England who has a true passion for Deep, Organic, Melodic and progressive House music.  Alex showcases his high standards and unique seamless mixing skills through appearing as a guest DJ on renown record labels and established radio stations such as Future Avenue, Nordic Voyage and ODHR. He also has a new podcast series "Soul Sessions" focusing on a deep and soulful flare. 

In recent times Alex has enjoyed success as a music producer  being signed from an internationally renowned Progressive House record label “Sound Avenue”. He has released several records and remixes from their sub labels “Future Avenue & “3rd Avenue”.  Furthermore, his remixes have been selected to appear on various Sound Avenue record label compilations which feature alongside artists such as Hernan Cattaneo, Beije, Eric Lune, GMJ, Forty Cats, Jamie Stevens and more.
