Sam and I are overjoyed to share this new mix with you: “Open Up Your Heart”. This song was birthed while Sam and I were improvising during a live set. We have had many special opportunities to explore this improvisational space together and in this particular session, these simple yet profound lyrics landed through Sam and deeply touched me. I decided to follow the general idea and we developed it into this song. We then invited our dear sister Matia Kalli to offer her incredible vocals to the mix. It has been one of my favorites to share live over the last year in my sets all around the world. It’s incredible to see how it opens people up to receive more love as we drop deeper into the present moment together.

O Ecstatic Dance para mim é um convite à LIBERDADE. Um convite para me expressar através do movimento corporal e permitir que a energia flua e se mova seguindo sua própria sabedoria. Um momento de CONFIANÇA e CONEXÃO comigo mesmo, que me ajuda a mover sem restrições, estar presente, mover através de sensações e emoções, prazer e dor, alegria e tristeza, raiva e sexualidade...experimentando e abraçando diversas facetas do meu Ser.
É um espaço de CELEBRAÇÃO aonde conecto e me sinto UM com uma tribo de pessoas que talvez nunca tenha visto antes, mas que vibram na mesma vibe, na mesma intenção.

Recording of the Resonanz Ecstatic Dance session at Paradiso, Ubud(Bali) on 26/1/23.
The upload includes the initial contact dance and the sonic shavasana ending as well.

Being my first ever ecstatic + contact dance, mistakes were made and lessons were learnt. 
Apologies for the contact dance not being more ambient.

Although the session was incredible on both sides of the decks regardless :)

Would recommend this as a great musical journey just after waking up :)

I've often tried creating an ecstatic wave journey without any lyric heavy songs. It never ends up happening. I just love using songs with lyrics both in english and other languages too much. But for this mix I will restrict myself to only songs that have instrumentals, or I will cut out any lyrics. I'm curious how it might land for our dance community and the creative direction it might take me on. 

I'm always trying to evolve and adapt my craft as a music weaver, and an easy way to do that is to impose restrictions that force me into uncomfortable and uncharted territories. If you'd like to journey into such an exploration, I invite you to come to this dance. 

The invitation there for you as a dancer, will be to explore the messages you find in music that is devoid of words. And also, the invitation is to explore how creative restrictions can fuel your creativity and dance expression.

La Lvcha is a synonym for fuss, it takes on the struggle that is each and every one of the existing inequalities and oppressions. This rebelion is fun, senatorial and filled with expression. 

Sound and vibrations united in one sound experience that goes from the marimba in the colombian Chocó to the german rhythm box. From joy, amusement and carelessness in harmony with surrounding people and the nature that sustains us. 

Music that emerges from instruments that are born from the earth, empanada by latin american artists that bring an african flavour of sustenance and roots. Here, music makes up for the injustices to the rhythm of sounds, inviting every emotion to be celebrated and accepted. 

On the dance floor every struggle (lucha in spanish) is the same and all emotions are shaken to the sound of movement. Because it is so, this is a revolution which is lived and enjoyed.

We have taken this “gozadera” to festivals such as Fusion Festival, Rototom, DGTL, Brunch Electronik, International Dub Gathering, Barcelona’s popular festivities: Sants, Poblesec, Raval and Gothic.

I am fabio, aka ronin, an ecstatic dance dj and facilitator, a transpersonal counselor and educator. As a dj, I played hip hop and black music in clubs and gigs for many years, taking part to national and international scratch and dj contests, also playing with several hip hop artists on stage. When I met the transformative and healing power of sound, of music, of vibration and of conscious dance and movement, I deepened this contact by studying and practicing transpersonal psychology, shamanism, native and indigenous cultures, expecially the Afro-brazilian tradition. Now I play to blend this vision into music, proposing and organizing ecstatic dance in Italy.

Micah "Mikaya" Swabb is a DJ and facilitator for the Asheville Movement Collective, and was the founder and resident DJ for Dance Church Maui from 2011-2019. He has a deep understanding of set arrangements for conscious dance events, yoga classes and ceremonies through his 8+ years of experience. Mikaya's mixes inspire meditation through movement in ways that widen the scope of one's self-awareness and self-expression.

His mixes use a spectrum of musical genres to deepen somatic embodiment through movement, breath and presence. Using a large bell curve progression his DJ sets begin peacefully, build momentum and contrast, and then land softly with resolution and grace. He has a gift for finding beautiful tracks that cover a broad spectrum of musical genres like global bass, tropical house, techno, glitch hop, downtempo, classical and ambient. 

Mikaya has shared the stage with The Human Experience, Ean Golden, David Starfire, Nickodemus, [Clever Alias], and DJ Dragonfly to name a few. He has played at festivals like Burning Man, Beloved Festival, Source Maui, and Element 11. He's DJ'd and facilitated at Dance Church Maui, Asheville Movement Collective, Ecstatic Dance Salt Lake City, Maui Conscious Dance Collective, Mangala Yoga Maui, and Lumeria Maui. He's also an experienced sound healer that plays the gong, Tibetan singing bowl, Native American flute, harmonium and other sacred sound healing instruments.

AKSHI é DJ, terapeuta holístico e co-fundador do One Love Institute.
O seu fascínio pelo mundo da música e pelo ser humano em si, o levou a encontrar uma forma única de tocar o corpo e o coração das pessoas, e conduzi-las em uma jornada para dentro delas mesmas, onde a música é o guia e o corpo as respostas.

Akshi nasceu na França, de pais portugueses, viajou o mundo inteiro e passou muito tempo na Europa, na África e no Brasil, o que resultou em uma enorme diversificação nas suas influências musicais, que vão do hip hop, funk, reggae, house, drum’n’bass, dub, psychedelic, samba à músicas xamânicas e devocionais.

Para ele DJing significa facilitar um espaço de desenvolvimento pessoal, onde a batida da música toca cada célula do corpo, convidando as pessoas a mergulharem em diversas dimensões do seu Ser.
