I’m super happy to share my new electro-jazzy mix! Even though I’m not the biggest fan of jazz, when inspiration finds me, I follow it.

It was super fun to play with all the instrumentals of jazz music, intertwined with some vocals, trying to create a rise of energy while also mixing different kinds of basslines. By working on making smooth transitions, I also learned new things, experimenting with starting a track in a certain way. Joy of learning.

I also loved digging for tracks for this set—it was a real pleasure to explore different sounds and textures. While searching, I came across this remix of Shhh/Peaceful by Miles Davis, an iconic track from his album In a Silent Way (1969). This album was a turning point in his career, blending electric elements and an immersive atmosphere that deeply influenced jazz fusion. A perfect way to wrap up the set!

This is a piece I wrote long ago and had only a version that I did on a Yamaha QY-10 pocket sequencer.  That very bad version appeared here for awhile. It shouldn't have, really.
It always deserved so much more.
 I have spent a couple months now giving it the performance and sound it always meant to have.
I am posting it unfinished. It has only a guide drum track and the bass disappears in one spot....... but I undergo heart surgery tomorrow and just in case I can't get back to this track for any reason, I wanted it here. I thinks it's potentially my best tune.
if all goes well, we'll just have a laugh together and I will then finish it.

My compositional philosophy comes from a way of looking at music that most closely resembles.....the TV shows Chopped and Project Runway.
Lemme 'splain. 
A Chopped contestant might be asked to make a delicious dish using Duck, Stilton cheese, Dill-pickle flavored Cotton-Candy and Almond Butter. While your typical Runway contestant is struggling to fashion a Ball-gown out of office supplies.....or furnace filters.
In that spirit, I begin a piece by randomly choosing 2 or 3 sounds and a couple of styles (and/or a more neutral style of my own that I call Electro-Classical) from nearly the entire world of music. The more absurd, the better (mostly).
Then the blending and contrasting begins and a way is found to get those crazy parts to add up to a delicious, savory pants-suit of a tune.
Music should be fun!

A composer from the Land of Sky Blue Waters making music with a primary focus on harmony, rhythm and melody. In that order.
Stylistic considerations a distant 4th.
Instrumental.
Electro/acoustic.
A person may sing sometime in the future (once a suitable person is found). Update: Singing got done on Song for Robert Wyatt - but the person was, in the end, unsuitable.
Expect a different style of music with every composition.
Expect my muddy mixes to slowly clear with more experience.
Expect swing!

My vision has always been to create something that sounds different and evokes intense, sometimes uncomfortable, but authentic feelings. I'm trying to break genre barriers to create something that's hard to pigeonhole.
