Driven by a lifelong fascination with space and technology, arcsec has created a soundtrack to honor the final hours of the Opportunity rover as its battery gradually faded on the Martian surface. Unable to recharge due to a dust storm, the rover transmitted one last, incomplete image, which serves as the artwork for this EP, titled after the now-iconic tweet from Jacob Margolis.

Musically, the EP draws heavy inspiration from Autechre, particularly their Oversteps and Exai eras, focusing on fragmented, unconventional melodies while maintaining the abstract rhythms, digital textures, and atmospheric drones featured in the previous arcsec EPs. Together, these elements form a haunting, dystopian soundscape

A 2-hour journey through soundscapes from across the globe. This set is a journey through reggae, dub, Afrobeat, highlife, funk, disco, Rai, tropical rhythms, electronic, world fusion, and African jazz. It’s a sonic passport to the world! The focus here isn’t on beat-matching every track but on riding the energy of each individual song, using pitch to weave a story that shifts in tempo and mood. Expect a rollercoaster of BPMs as I explore the essence of every tune.

This tracklist reflects my boundless love for diverse music genres from various countries, including Jamaica, Algeria, Libya, South Africa, Ghana, Congo, Cape Verde, Puerto Rico, India, Egypt, Italy, France, the United Kingdom, Sweden, Tunisia, and Romania. It’s a true global musical journey!

Just a French man that found fun by making weird music 🥲

Seth Rosson, the artist behind the pseudonym No Language, is an American producer originally from Texas, now living in Los Angeles. Rosson learned guitar in his teens and studied classical guitar at University, but eventually gravitated into electronic production. Although he has made music for many years, Dreamlines is his first release. Rosson describes his musical journey as “non-linear with several valuable side-steps along the way”. No Language’s style encompasses ambient, minimal techno, cinematic, and experimental electronic sounds often created with analog synths, manipulated samples, sparse arrangements, and left field percussion. His music is often described as avant garde, “high brow” electronic music influenced by artists such as Jon Hopkins, Jonny Greenwood, Rival Consoles, Tim Hecker, and Composer/Cellist Oliver Coates.

This rebranding marks a new chapter where we celebrate the eclectic and the experimental, driving forward with a fresh, modern identity. IDMforums will still be the conduit to the label but won’t be the only source of contributing artists and musicians.
