We live in a world where everything seems to be upside down. On average, we live longer but with a lower quality of life. With more rights than ever, but more oppressed than ever. With more free time, but less efficient use of it than ever. We are educated to multitask but also to not think too much. The gap between classes is rapidly growing, while companies have already dominated an apocalyptic world, which has a brief countdown for a million other reasons. And we wonder what just happened, how we've come to this, and how we can fix it. In the time we have a cigarette, a coffee or a foot massage. We take advantage of this little break to reflect on things that destroy us, and that we are overlooking just because we do not stop to think about the simplest things. Everybody is welcome to have a break with us, and to enjoy a little introspection time. Just relax, keep your guard down and listen.

Here, Righi is joined in a wide-ranging conversation with Michael Lewis about finitude, infinitude, evolution, neoliberalism, and radical change.



Andrea Righi is a cultural theorist and professor of European studies and Italian at Monash University in Melbourne, Australia. Righi is author of Three Economies of Transcendence; The Other Side of the Digital: The Sacrificial Economy of New Media; and coeditor with Cesare Casarino of Another Mother: Diotima and the Symbolic Order of Italian Feminism.

Michael Lewis is senior lecturer in philosophy at University of Newcastle Upon Tyne and editor of the Journal of Italian Philosophy.

82: Help! I can't stop hating men

Twenty-five years after the Women, Peace and Security agenda was enshrined through Resolution 1325, the face of war looks completely different. What started off as an initiative from a handful of women in conflict-torn countries was at first hard to understand for the international community. Yet, as it was getting incorporated by Western countries, it also started to lose its original aims. In a tense world, militarisation risks obscuring the “peace” in the term Women, Peace and Security.
Host Sabina Șancu and Eugenia Rossi, programme assistant in charge of the Frontline Voices project, spoke with Sanam Naraghi Anderlini, one of the people who formulated resolution 1325. She is now the founder and CEO of International Civil Society Action Network (ICAN).

Jessica Benjamin joins host John Totten for our season finale. In a wide-ranging conversation [outlined below], the renowned psychoanalyst and theorist reflects on her radical upbringing, the development of recognition theory, and the feminist lens through which she examines our persistent social dilemmas. Why does more civilization seem to generate more problems? Dr. Benjamin’s answer diverges from Freud’s, and her concept of repair exposes how often conformity is entangled with domination. From mundane conventions like parenting roles to the horrors of war and genocide, her concepts illuminate pathways of transformation through multiplicity, challenging the belief that “only one can live.” She proposes that feminism offers a way forward in the clinic and society: a chance to move beyond rigid binaries into “The Third”- a space of mutual recognition, but only if we are first willing to confront the ways we’ve been getting it wrong.

A reproductive rights anthem using the actual slogan from 2024 women's marches. Opens with the overturn of Roe v. Wade and its second anniversary protests. Verses detail the reality: seven states passed abortion rights ballot measures in November 2024 despite the opposition; hundreds protesting at the Supreme Court with a banner containing 500,000 signatures; over 15,000 at the November 2024 Women's March. Wikipedia But also the violence—the attacks on clinics, the 1,000+ protesters in Orlando fighting for Florida's Amendment 4.
Chorus brings in the intersectionality, explicitly linking to trans healthcare: "Bans off our bodies, our lives, our choice / Same fight for abortion, same fight for trans voice / My body, my decision, my healthcare, my right / We won't go back, we're here to fight." Bridge references the Gender Liberation March's explicit connection between reproductive rights and trans liberation. The 19th News Final chorus adds disability justice, women's pay equity, and violence prevention—showing all bodily autonomy struggles are connected.

I call myself an Eastern Feminist. I am from that part of Europe Americans like to call Eastern Europe. We consider ourselves Central Europe but that’s geographically. Ideologically we were a part of USSR therefore we are really different. This is an important fact I’d like to underline and why I am much different from western feminists. I lived in NYC for almost 5 years and met some feminists there, but over all American feminism disappointed me a lot. I do admire feminists who live or teach in the US but they are either European or African or of African descent as Angela Davis. I was introduced to the real feminism in NYC by a French stripper roommate and others, and I’m so grateful for that.
