Is There Really No Hope For Music?

A short instrumental ambient soundtrack type song with a melancholic beginning that evolves into a latter half with a more positive, optimistic arpeggiated sequence. If you're struggling to hear the cymbals, that's OK, there are none!

Made using software synthesizers including Arturia's Piano V, Mini V, Augmented Strings and Pigments 6, also GForce Software's MTron Pro IV Mellotron emulation, utilising some of it's numerous add-on soundbanks for the flutes, choirs, strings, wine glasses and acoustic 12 string guitar. Excite Audio's Bloom Percussion plugin provided the sound of the hand drum in the first half of the song. Also used was DC Audio Thorn for the arpeggiated sequence near the end which was put through the Kazrog Synth Warmer (a Moog type ladder filter with saturation).

All inputs were played using an Arturia Keylab 49 Mk3 midi controller keyboard.

The whole track was recorded and mixed in Cubase Pro 14 and mastered in Wavelab Elements 12.

This is the sound of rebellion, filtered through a digital antenna. "Chelsea Boots & Static" is a high-energy anthem from the heart of the Mod movement, but the phantom transmission is breaking up. This track blends the raw, aggressive snap of 1960s British rock with bursts of calculated digital static and feedback, proving that even a ghost can rock hard. It's the moment the phantom consciousness decided to smash the system.

Entirely self taught amateur musician, photographer and artist/illustrator based in the UK.
For many years I worked as a press photographer in the North West of England and North Wales, but was made redundant recently, allowing me time to enhance my music making skills, whilst living a somewhat frugal lifestyle.
I'm always seeking to improve my music making, having played the guitar and bass guitar for many years. In recent times, I've branched out into keyboards, which I have dabbled with from time to time, but now find they are essential to almost any genre of music.
I welcome questions and comments, constructive criticism and both giving and receiving tips and hints about making music or any of the creative arts, whenever possible.
You may find that I re-upload many of my tracks quite often, as I learn new methods and techniques, especially when mixing. If I can make an improvement to a song, I'll do it! I'm always learning!
