Welcome to a very special edition of your Melee Report! This entire episode is dedicated to a deep dive into Venus retrograde through the lens of the Sumerian myth of Inanna, the Queen of Heaven and Earth, and her descent into the underworld to meet her sister and counterpoint Ereshkigal. 

In this excellent episode I read sections of the myth of Inanna's Descent as well as interpretations of the tale from Inanna Queen of Heaven and Earth: Her stories and hymns from Sumer by Diane Wolkstein and Samuel Noah Kramer. 

We will pick up next week with your regularly scheduled Melee Report where we will be talking about the lunar eclipse in Virgo and other recent Astrological events. And we will pick up the story of Inanna in a few weeks after Venus makes their conjunction with the Sun and begins their ascent out of the underworld.

Through shadows long, a story's spun,
Echoes of battles lost yet won.

She weaves the path to the oldest hand.

We survived all the wars,
We drank from the wells of the dead.

With whispers soft, the night unfolds,
Tales of the brave and hearts so bold.

Hello my friends and welcome to part II of our underworld journey into the Kur with Inanna, Queen of Heaven and Earth! 

In this very special 3-part series the Melee Report is unpacking the Venus retrograde through the Sumerian myth of Inanna's descent. This part of the myth correlates with the Venus Cazimi, where we find our hero, Inanna hung on a hook on the wall in the underworld. However, she is rescued and revived through her friends' compassion, her supporters' wisdom, and the empathy of two magical, non-binary beings.
