Videogames are an increasingly global industry, and with excellent titles being crafted around the world, there's a treasure trove of new adventures to experience. But when you pick up a game originally created in another country, how often do you think about the work that went into adapting it for you? 

You may not have heard of videogame localisers before, but you've almost definitely benefitted from their work. They adapt videogames from one cultural and linguistic context to another. This is quite different from translating a novel or film, more than you might think!

Join me and five interviewees as we discuss translation challenges in videogame localisation (with a particular focus on English to French localisation)and as we consider potential techniques for overcoming them.

It's OK to disagree with the translation choices made by a team of translators, however, if you think the translation for Unicorn Overlord isn't DOPE then you run a high likelihood of being wrong.
